• Damn Leveling Jacks

I posted last year about the leveling system on my View and one of the
jacks being way out of plumb when it extended. My dealer agreed and
replaced it under warranty as there was a known issue with some of the mounting hardware not being right. It never really worked right after
    this replacement.

I struggled three times with this thing going out of level once it was
setup. I could handle it being a little bit out of level if I had to,
but the big problem for me was it dropped so much that the fridge drip
pan would spill out onto the cabin floor. I would notice this and
re-level the RV and sure as shit it would go down again. I had it
worked out to be the front left, the same one they replaced under warranty.

So, I finally had enough and after the last trip set it up at home and
checked it all out one last time. You could actually hear it creaking
down and doing the same thing as out camping. So I took it in to the
    dealer.

I called after a couple days and they said that it hadn't dropped down
at all for them. I asked if they had extended the slide out and then
checked the level again because the weight on that side requires you to
lower the left jacks again to get level. They did that. After 4-5 days
I stopped in there to see where we were at. Again, they said it didn't
seem to drop. I was shocked and said I guarantee if we go down there
right now and check it won't be level. They wanted to just charge me
one hour and be done with it since they couldn't find a drop. Now I was upset. They just didn't believe me it was dropping.

I asked them to walk over to it with me and I would set it up like I
always do and I would show them it dropping. At the unit, where they
had it level was the opposite of most campground sites with the front
being higher than the rear, so when they lifted it up to level there was
not very much weight on the hydraulics of the jacks. So I lowered it
all the way to the ground and started over. I got the rear wheels just
barely on the ground, much higher than they had, and started on the
front. Once I got it level the front wheels were still touching the
ground, but you could tell there was much more weight on the system.
You could immediately hear the creaking of the jack lowering on it's own
and the guy with me ran over and started watching it happen, just like I
had said. I proved I was right all along, and they should have been embarrassed if you ask me.

So they FINALLY agreed there was a problem with this jack and they would
order a new one. I said it never worked since Winnebago sent it, and it hasn't been a year, so why wouldn't they cover it as a faulty part. But
no, I had to use my extended warranty which will end up costing me
    money. Not happy.

Today, now 3 or 4 days since they ordered the part they called and said
they had expected to have it by now so they called Winnebago and they
said it either got lost or damaged in shipping! WTF!!

I'll be glad to finally get this fixed, but what a pain in the ass, and
I was hoping to plan something for in two weeks, but I really don't know
for sure if I'll have it back. Sucks!

Buy yourself a cheap scissor or bottle jack and go ahead and plan

I have the stuff already, and was planning on doing so until I convinced
them I was right and they ordered the part. After this supposed
shipping nonsense, I'm just gonna plan something and tell them if they
don't have the part by a couple days before I'm leaving to wait until I
    get back.

Oh man, that really stinks. I hate working with dealers for just
    these reasons.

Oh man, that really stinks. I hate working with dealers for just
    these reasons.

I have always disliked using other people for just about anything. I
will say, I do like this dealer of mine and they usually do a good job.
The problems I have with most places is that they don't really care, and
don't work on things like it's something they own. In this case, I'm
hoping they learned a little about the lifting systems and do better in
    the future.

The not taking responsibility for a bad part from both them and
Winnebago is another issue. I can't say I'm surprised, but I am
disappointed. I know companies need to make a buck, but I grew up
preferring to do the right and honorable thing. I think that is getting harder and harder to find.
