Had been pretty lucky so far up until yesterday down here in Alabama.
Several days they were calling for rain, and it always somehow split on
the Peninsula we're staying with some going north and some going north
over the bay. Rain was predicted yesterday, and we were sunburnt to a
crisp anyways, so we decided to run into New Orleans. Went down by the
French Quarter and the market. Glad I had that 2 door jeep as driving
down there is crazy. We wanted to get a coffee at the famous original
coffee place there called Cafe Du Monde. We had the must do Cafe Ole
and shared a plate of beignets. Absolutely wonderful and the wife was
pleased with the chauffeur. The wife could hang thee for a week, me not
so much. But it was fun seeing the place and now I can say I have.

We left in a downpour and made it to the close parked jeep and headed
back. I absolutely was epic rain all the way back and we ended up
getting at least 3", though I would say probably more. Local streets
were all hazardous with much flooding, and even the I-10 had more water
than it could get rid of quickly and I could not use cruise because I hydroplaned a couple of times. So we slowed down and worked our way back.

My younger brother decided to come up from Florida to visit with us the
last 3 days we're going to be here. That was nice getting to chew the
fat with them and catch up as it's been a while now since I've seen him.

Today it is cooler than it has been and just too windy (steady 20 mph)
to do any fishing as I'd hoped. Maybe tonight. Anyway, better trip
report probably when I get back. Having a great time!

    Glad it's a good time!

Did fish for a short while, but the bay was all stirred up with the wind
and I gave up. But, at least I got a line in!

I got the trailer out of storage today and set it up for camping.
We plan to spend a few days at Two Rivers State Recreation Area
(just 10 miles west of home) to shake out any bugs before heading
    for Maine on the 17th.

That's a good idea. Never know what can go bad in the off season. We
were fortunate this time and everything worked as it is supposed to.
Even the damn Mercedes was flawless. Very nice to find out I don't need
a DC charger on the Jeep since the 12 gauge hot wire I installed using
the power prong on the umbilical worked just fine, even with the new
Canbus system these vehicles have now.

We had a lovely time, the weather was magnificant. Interestingly,
I tried running the fridge on battery alone, and the BMS showed no
draw whatsoever. It was mostly full and at temp, so probably not
running much if at all. I didn't leave it on battery very long,
    though.

    Awesome!
