• No campsites available?

    Hi all,

I've planned a trip out to see our oldest in Maine over Memorial
Day weekend, and the wife has requested we see Niagara Falls on
the way back. I have a campground reserved near Youngstown, NY
for a couple of nights, then thought it would be fun to continue
by way of the north side of Lake Erie.

I found a suitable camp ground near Kingsville, Ontario but am
getting no response (to e-mail or voice mail) about reserving a
site for the night of May 29. Searches on Google maps, Campspot,
and Parkadvisor apps show only a very few other cqmpgrounds in the
broader area, and all seem to have no availability.

Is it really possible that everything is booked, or am I just not
    searching well?

Maybe we'll have to end up just spending the night parked at some
rest stop or parking lot, or maybe I should give up the idea of
    coming through Canada.

Any wisdom from the more experienced folks here would be really
    appreciated.

It is a busy looking area. Sturgeon Woods, Pleasant Valley, and Erie
Shores want you to call and won't give any on-line availability.
Leisure Lake does have some on-line checking and dies appear to have available. I checked on a trailer 24' or less (don't know how long
yours is) and it did appear they have spots available.

    Good Luck!

Ah, great info, thanks! I saw the Leisure Lake place on Google
maps, but was thrown off by "cottages" in the name. I should have
not succumbed to the classic contempt prior to investigation. :-/

That place looks to be a good location for the route I've planned,
and I was able to book the night I wanted. So thanks again!

Excellent, glad you got a spot.
That said, without getting overly political here, Quebec and Ontario are
the VERY liberal parts of Canada and I'd be very careful not to make too
big a deal with being an American up there. Practice saying "Ya hey
dare" and avoid having your coffee spit in. They hate us 'mericans in
that part of the country because of TDS. Hopefully you'll have a great
    time!
