• Going to Alabama

Got a site booked for end of April down on the Alabama Shores area.
This one sounds like it's gonna be a bit lazy, and I guess that's all
right with me. Wife said something about our latest trips have all been
about hiking, and she's fine with hanging out on the beach. At this
point, I figure I can just walk the beaches, might bring the bikes, and
just enjoy some different scenery. Probably ought to check out the salt
    water fishing, too.

Guess we'll take the Bronco unless I get a jeep before then.

Sounds nice! We were down in that area just last week. My wife
gets an approximately annual injection of biological therapy in
her ankle to keep the degenerative arthritis at bay.

She is supposed to be low activity for a time after the injection,
so we didn't do much hiking. Next time I'll hope we can get
there earlier ahead of the procedure so we can do more active
things. Maybe even drag the trailer down. :0)

LOL Subtle wifely cues. Reminds me a bit of my adult kids
recently referring to the hikes we took them on when young as
    "death marches". Oh well.

We had a lovely few days last week, with temps that were perfect
for tooling around with the rental convertible top down. We
stayed at Navarre Beach with a nice view of the Gulf. Ate lots of
seafood. I had a grouper piccata at the Grand Marlin that was
    just exceptional. Pricey, though.

The Air Force Armament Museum was interesting as well. We spent a
couple of hours there. Lots of old bombs!

Guess we'll take the Bronco unless I get a jeep before then.

Hope you have a great trip! I'm currently working to plan a trip
out to Maine for Memorial Day weekend.

I was surprised to see the abundance of places to RV down there. By my brothers in Spring Hill Florida there are very few.

This might sound odd, but I have a feeling my wife is once again
coddling me. After hiking with her I think she might think I'm gonna
push it too far and have a hard time because of it. She's that way.
That's OK because hiking in sand is the best thing you can do for bad
ankles and knees. I'll do more later in the year and hopefully I will
    be stronger then, too.

Yep, we plan on getting our fill of seafood. Checked out the Grand
Marlin, but we're all the way around the bay and it's a 1.75 hour drive
to get there. Maybe if we are out and about, but otherwise it's a
little far for where we're going. Nice looking joint, though.

The Air Force Armament Museum was interesting as well. We spent a
couple of hours there. Lots of old bombs!

There's a fort right on the Gulf we'll probably check out, too.

Guess we'll take the Bronco unless I get a jeep before then.

Hope you have a great trip! I'm currently working to plan a trip

My wife has been out there a couple times, but I never have. I would
like to go someday. I'll have to figure out how to be nice to the east
    coast liberals.

I completely understand about not wanting to spend hours driving.
I'm sure there are great places much closer to where you'll be.

From Gulf Shores, the Naval Aviation Museum (just southwest of

(notheast of Navarre). And it's just a few miles from Fort
Pickens, though that's across Pensacola Bay and driving from one

If you get to Portland, Gilberts Chowder House has the best clam
chowder I've ever had. It's amazing. Lots of good seafood too.
Up the coast a ways is Bar Harbor and Acadia NP, both well worth
    seeing.

That's amazing! This arthritis seems to slowly take the fun out of
being retired and having things in order. It's just always there. I
could start every day with an oxycodone pill, but what kind of way is
that to live. Not many good answers that they allow, since there is so
much money in this, but I'm glad you got one that seems to work.

    it.

Push it too far? Oh surely not!

Oh I've gotten much better. I'm realizing I don't have the strength or
will I did when I was younger. I'd say it started 4-5 years ago, once
the joints started failing. All these physical issues and surgeries
make you much less active and you lose even more strength and stamina.
I don't want to go out an not get back either, and I think I know my
limits. I think she just saw how difficult this knee thing was and
knowing my past worries a bit. She's a good woman.

When you say, "all the way around the bay" are you meaning Perdido

    <https://fortmorganrvpark.com/>

WE looked at a place on Dauphin Island, but decided on this place east
of there on on the peninsula coming off the other side of the bays. If
you could get to the west side without taking the ferry, it would be
doable. I don't really want to do the ferry, but you never know.

I do want to go east and check out Destin, Fla. That would be a nice
ride on US 98. It used to be a great somewhat unknown gem, but I got a feeling the word has gotten out and it is getting crowded. Plus, there
will be spring break crowds possibly during this time. We stayed at
Panama Beach just a little further east one year, and it was nice. Next
year the same time they had the college kids rioting there.

The Air Force Armament Museum was interesting as well. We

I like chowder for lunch, and then some fresh fish for dinner.
The wife did say she'd throw the cast iron skillet in the RV in case I
decided to fish. We'll see what we end up with.

I think I could easily live in the View for a couple months in the south

a great day not to be here with a fresh 7" of heavy wet crap laying on
the driveway. Good thing I didn't pack up the snowblower last week.

When you say, "all the way around the bay" are you meaning

I couldn't get any of the sites 1-7, but I did get site 11
    which is promising looking.

    <https://fortmorganrvpark.com/park-map/>

That does look promising. I also see you plan out the specific
sites ahead of time based on maps available online. I've been
tending to do the same and am starting to get halfway decent at
    it. :)

If at all possible, yes I do. First, I like to get something as private
as possible. I also would prefer not to be under a bunch of trees for
two reasons. I don't want to be under them if a heavy storm rolls in,
and if I need internet the Starlink needs a fairly clear sky.

    Gotta get some fresh cigars!

Oh that'll make you some friends.

I do try to be aware if I smoke one. If a person simply doesn't like me smoking a cigar, they can fuck off. If my smoke appears to be wafting
in their area, I will either move or put it out. But, if they're
sitting around a campfire and then tell me they can smell my cigar
smoke, I am not gonna have a lot of sympathy. So many Karen's out there.
