• I-70 west of Denver

Was planning on going over the Rockies via I-70. Roads are fine now,
but supposed to get 7-8" snow in Vail on Tuesday. That would give them
2 1/2 days to clear the roads before we would go through there Friday.
    Crap.

Guess I'll plan the southern route using I-40, and take a look at going through Salt Lake and I-80 in case it looks unpassable. They actually
had a 5 mile stretch they just pulled the snow tire/chain restrictions
    for passenger vehicles this morning.

Can't get over I-70 because you have to have chains now, and can't get
over I-80 because any RV under 20,000 lbs is restricted because of blow
    over risk.

Gotta go south. I feel kinda stupid thinking it would be easy.

Where are you now? Did you find a place to stay? Is it snowing?

Just getting ready to leave this morning. Conditions have improved dramatically and we're gonna try I-70.

This is probably too late by now, but just an FYI that when we
drove I-70 west to east through Colorado last March the surface
was just awful--in very bad repair.
