Oh *man.* As the Kids These Days say, she was a Real One. Obviously
"Banned from Argo" is an inescapable classic, but I've always had a
soft spot for "The Earth's Fire-Breathing Daughter." Rest in peace,
    madam.

Yikes, RIP Leslie. I didn't get to hang out with her as much as I'd
like to have. I was just thinking about her recently. I was in contact
with her a year or so ago and I didn't realize she had more recently
been ill, but Wikipedia says that she died in hospice care. If I'd known
I would have have tried to reach her.

Wikipedia cites Susan McDonald at this page, but the connection
currently times out when I click the link:

    https://scifi.radio/2025/11/29/filk-legend-leslie-fish-has-died/

Maybe it will start working again later.

Wikipedia also says she died at age 72. That is younger than I would
have guessed, since I had thought of her as having been involved in
radicalism in the 1960s. She undoubtedly had a busy life either way.

    I'll miss you, Leslie.

Leslie's accounts of her age seemed to vary. That would make her younger
    than me, which feels unlikely.

    Wikipedia claims she was 81.

She was an interesting character, and I wish I could have spent more
time with her, but I can't tolerate tobacco smoke and she couldn't
tolerate clean air, so we could spend very little time in each other's
    company.

There was one convention - I think in Texas - where the filk rooms (2nd
floor) had sliding glass doors opening on a roof over part of the first
floor. When Leslie felt the need to smoke, she would go outside, then
come back an rejoin the circle. I'm not sure how somebody who is really sensitive to tobacco would feel - some of the smoke was bound to cling
to her clothes. But I didn't detect any smell of smoke.

I do so have a memory. It's backed up on DVD... somewhere...
