While making tea a little while ago, I asked myself, "Why are there so
many films about Godzilla?" Then I couldn't stop myself. This took about
    10 minutes to write.

    The Kaiju Connection
    Lyrics: Gary McGath, Copyright 2024
    Music: rCLThe Rainbow ConnectionrCY

Why are there so many films about kaiju
And thousands the beasts leave dead?
Kaiju are monsters but only in movies,
And monsters have nothing to dread.
So IrCOve been told and IrCOm sure I believe it.
Each year a new film to see.
Someday IrCOll find it, the kaiju connection,
King Kong and Godzilla and me.

Who said that every film would draw in the public
If it had a monstrous star?
Honda once thought of it, his backers believed him,
Look what itrCOs done so far.
All theyrCOve been doing keeps filmgoers viewing,
When they launch a new wreckage spree.
Someday IrCOll find it, the kaiju connection,
King Kong and Godzilla and me.

All of us under its spell.
We know that it must be mad science.

Have you been half asleep then wakened by screaming?
IrCOve heard crowds yelling the name.
Is this the creature that drowned all the sailors?
The two must be one and the same.
IrCOve seen them too many times to ignore them,
Things nature did not mean to be.
Someday IrCOll find it, the kaiju connection,
King Kong and Godzilla and me.

Nice. I didn't know the word Kaiju before. I forwarded the song to a
friend who is a big Godzilla fan. I'm sure she'll like it.

I've never gotten anywhere with the idea of "Gojira" to the tune of
"Elvira" (written by Dallas Frazier, made famous by the Oak Ridge
    Boys). But it seems needed.

It would be tricky. "Elvira" in the song is pronounced elv-eye-ra, but "Gojira" is pronounced roughly go-gee-ra.

Someone once did "They call the beast Godzilla" to the tune of "They
call the wind Maria." I thought it was in Xeno but can't find it in the
    index.

I remember that one but don't know where I saw it:

    Out here we've got some names for things, like wind and rain and killers;
The wind is Tess, the rain is Joe, and they call the beast Godzilla.

    There is also:

    In Arkham town we have some names for certain lurking hoodoos;
There's Yog-Sothoth and Azatoth, and they call the boss Cthulhu.

Yeah for "Elvira" I had imagined pronouncing Gojira the same way. Oh well.
