This is a Linux specific question and answer. I am not certain how this works for a Mac. You may find articles like -unicode-hex-input.html gives some help. The answer will also depend on your language and keyboard settings. You can, of course, use INSERT > SPECIAL CHARACTERS to insert these characters, and also find out the specific chraracter codes you may be interested in.
If you are using Windows you should be able to enter any Unicode directly say using the default font, Liberation Serif for text, enter the code point and with cursor after the last character toggle to display the glyph with +x. E.g. for U+1d513, enter U+1d513 and then +x to toggle to ?.
LibreOffice uses Unicode. However ? ctrl/ shift u+1d513 is the sequence used to insert Unicode characters on a Linux system. If you have a problem showing a box with a question mark for example ctrl/shift (u+fffd) this is often found by cutting / pasting an extended unicode character on a system, typically Windows, that is not supporting unicode. This is an error from the cut/paste not LibreOffice which is correctly showing the Unicode .
Standard LibreOffice fonts, for example Arial, contain characters such as ?. The Unicode Standard is not a software program, nor is it a font. It is a character encoding system, like ASCII, designed to help developers who want to create software applications that work in any language in the world.
The reason you don't see the characters as expected is most likely because you need to install a font that covers the set of Unicode characters you are trying to see. Other possible reasons might be that:
If you need to install a font to resolve the problem, free fonts can be downloaded for many Unicode ranges. See Font Resources, or search in your browser for the name of the font you need. Fonts typically cover only one script, or sometimes a range of scripts. Often fonts haven't been updated to render the most recent additions to the Unicode character set. See also Display Problems?
The Unicode data files do not function like a software patch, and cannot automatically update existing fonts or applications, so downloading the files will not help in displaying and typing the Unicode characters needed.

In traditional typesetting there were several characters used for word spacing. In digital font files the word space is a specific width character used for word spacing. Applications are responsible for adjusting the word spacing and character spacing to suit the current page layout. Many page layout applications allow for custom control of the word spacing through application specific functions. Unicode and OpenType fonts can provide similar custom word space glyphs or other glyph substitutions that will be portable to other applications.
The no-break space is not the same character as the figure space. The figure space is not a character defined in most computer system's current code pages. In some fonts this character's width has been defined as equal to the figure width. This is an incorrect usage of the character no-break space.
Em space U+2003 - Traditionally defined as a space character with an advance width value equal to the current point size. In a 12 point font the em is equal to 12 point. In PostScript and TrueType fonts there are 72.0 points to the inch. This is not necessarily equivalent to the advance width of the uppercase M. In digital fonts font units are used to calculate point size. There are 2048 units in the em of a Latin 1 TrueType font.
Thin space U+2009 - Standard setting is 1/5 of the em space. 410 units in a 2048 unit per em font. This should be language dependent. The standard language dependent setting for French is 1/8 of the em space. 256 units in a 2048 unit per em font.

Hindi Unicode is a set of unique numeric value that is assigned to render Hindi letter, digit, as well as symbol. Before Hindi Unicode, various Hindi fonts such as Kruti Dev, DevLys, &Mangal were used to type Hindi documents.
As these fonts use Devanagari Letters as pictorial representation of the letter, it brought lot ofcomplication while transferring the data from one computer to another. Unless same font is installedin the other computer, the Hindi letter is not displayed correctly and data processing such as "Spell Checking","Sorting", "Find and Replace" was not possible.
