    A story found on Quora:

This is a story that Alice Cooper told about John and Brian Wilson.

rCLI was sitting backstage after the 1974 Grammys with Bernie Taupin
(Elton JohnrCOs lyricist) and John Lennon. This was when Brian was really having some mental issues,rCY said Cooper.

rCLDuring the course of the conversation, I kept seeing Brian out of the corner of my eye, just kind of staring at us from different angles.rCY

rCLFinally, he came up to the table, bent down and whispered in my ear
rCyHey Alice, introduce me to John Lennon.rCO I couldnrCOt BELIEVE that these two men had never met! They were virtually neck and neck in the 60rCOs as
the greatest bands on the planet, and IrCOm SURE they must have crossed
paths at some point. But then I thought to myself, rCyWow, IrCOm going to be the one to introduce them and become a part of rock history!rCOrCY

rCLSo I merely said, rCyBrian Wilson, this is John Lennon. John Lennon, this is Brian Wilson.rCO Lennon was very cordial and polite, saying things like rCyHello Brian, IrCOve always wanted to meet you. IrCOve always admired your work, and Paul and I considered Pet Sounds one of the best albums ever made.rCO Brian thanked him and walked away, at which point Lennon went
right back to his conversation like nothing had happened.rCY

rCLAbout ten minutes later, Brian came by our table again, leaned down and whispered something to Bernie, and all of a sudden, Bernie was saying
rCyBrian Wilson, this is John Lennon. John Lennon, Brian Wilson.rCO Lennon
was just as cordial and polite as the first time, saying essentially the
same thing about always wanting to meet him.

As soon as Brian walked away, John looked at both of us and casually
said in his typical Liverpudlian accent, rCyIrCOve met him hundreds of
times. HerCOs not well, you know.rCOrCY

We were impressed by JohnrCOs empathy and kindness in dealing with Brian
and thankful that Brian has found some mental stability following
    tumultuous times.

Thanks to Boris for the story, photo and check out AlicerCOs T-Shirt. It
    is soooooo Alice Cooper.

I remember reading Paul once went to Wilson's house when he first
flipped his wig and tried to meet with and console him. I don't think
    Wilson let him in.

Even after Brian Wilson had fried his mind, he at least had the sense --
unlike his brother Dennis -- to keep his distance from Charles Manson.

I think John Lennon was badly damaged by LSD; he made himself
susceptible to hustlers like Alex Mardas and Yoko. However, he bounced
back to an extent during his so-called "Lost Weekend."
