-a-a Still early , but not too early . Got 150 bulb onions and 24 garlic
(shoulda been planted last fall , oh well) in the ground , plus
relocated 90 strawberry plants . We'll still have more freezing
weather - lows in the 50's for the next several days - but the
strawberries have been outside all winter and onions do well as long
as it ain't below zero .
-a-a Also got a dozen tomato seedlings a couple of inches tall , bell
peppers have just started to peep thru .
I have to wait till the third week in May.
I tried growing a bell pepper a few years back.-a I got one
fruit the size of a pea.
I am going out try walking onions this year.
And maybe a blueberry if I can find a miniature version.
Be advised , you need 2 varieties of blueberry for pollination . With
proper pruning you probably don't really need a dwarf variety . My well established bushes are only about 4 feet tall and maybe 18" in diameter
- and I haven't pruned . I have some dried blueberries (mentioned in
another post) that I missed last year , I'm going to see if they will germinate/sprout ... I love blueberries , still got some from last year
in my freezer . I have room for 2 more plants without expanding the
garden space (currently about 1400 sq feet) .
