• Which country names did I erase?

Starting with a straightforward and informative table of ranks,
I selected 23 rows and then erased ten of the country names.

Can you guess the ten missing country names?

OK, let's give it a try. But it certainly a guess. If I have as many
four in the right place, I would be surprised. If I have all wrong -
that would not be surprising at all.

Definitely more than I expected. My hypothesis is that the table
reflects the GDP in different years, although I could not really
get it to match. As for the two countries I did not get, I'm not
going to make a second guess on which country might have started
as 19, advanced to #10 and now has fallen to position 51. Same for
    the end of the list.

Yes. The "NA"s associated with Russia might help to calibrate the dating.

    Hints for the final two:

    [Venezuela Wrong]

Not so very long ago this country-- in the news recently -- briefly had
the 10th largest economy in the world. Why has it fallen on hard times?

Why did this small European country boom in recent decades, now
having a GDP on a par with larger countries like Belgium and Sweden?

But at the same time confusing. Seeing them on place 9 does not match
my expectations, but maybe the last column is also a bit outdated by now?

Your questions seem IR-relevant. To wit, you seem to be asking about
    IRan and IReland.

At the bottom of the list, it's more difficult since I don't know
which ones you left out. The inclusion of Taiwan and Thailand looked
like a hint, so that is why I tried Vietnamn.

As for Venezuela and Iran, they share a similar fate. And a GNP which
is largely depenedent on raw materials.

No particular significance. I've spent more of my adult life in
Thailand than in any other country, so I usually include it in lists.

    Well done, Erland!

I wouldn't mind, but you may have to make them a little easier. :-)

And, of course, if you participate in the other quizzes that are
posted here that would mean a 20% increas of the regular crowd. :-)
