    Hi all,

This may be a bit of a message in a bottle.

I was a active lurker in the OSR and indie RPG design circles on
    Google+ back in the day,
and like many others I migrated when G+ shut down. I went to MeWe
    initially,
but left not long after, and as a result I lost touch with a lot of
    people IrCOd
    been regularly following.

Lately IrCOve been trying to reconnect with that older OSR / DIY /
    small-press
design crowd, the folks who were sharing drafts, blogs, odd mechanics,
    and
half-finished games in comment threads, and IrCOm wondering who, if
    anyone,
from that Google+ diaspora is still around here.

If you were part of that scene and are still reading, IrCOd be glad to
say hello again. No big agenda, no attempt to recreate G+ (that ship
    has sailed),
just looking to re-establish a few conversations.

    Thanks for indulging the nostalgia,

ha, cast into a little frequented part of the seas I shall say,
    but well met!

Good stuff for sure. If you're interested in the intersection of
D&D, DIY, blogs and odd mechanics, we have a little community sort
of gravitating around this place: https://campaignwiki.org/wiki/MontagInZ%c3%bcrich/HomePage
we even have a little bi-anual zine: https://lkh.sdf-eu.org/wandererbill/grenzland/

There are a few readers and posters still around over here. Let's say
    about four maybe? 8)
I do like usenet for it's slowness.

Back at the time I went onto Mastodon and there definitely was some
notable influx of users from G+ to the Fediverse. That would actually
be my recommendation if you haven't done so already. Get an account
on say dice.camp or tabletop.social, write a short #introduction and
see what happens. You'll probably find some familiar handles.

These days a lot of folks have been absorbed by the various Discords.
There is one well known OSR Discord, but I'm not sure where it's got
it's landing page and how to invite users to that instance.

On the other hand Discord might see some decline due to the recent
kerfuffle about them using withpersona.com's identification services for
    age verification.

Well, this *is* a nostalgic place, isn't it?

    On Fedi I'm @wandererbill@tabletop.social btw.

    Cheers!

G+ closed down in 2018, with about 6 months of warning if I remember correctly.

I registered for an account on dice.camp but I'm waiting on an admin to approve my account, it's been a couple days already. So it'll be sad if
the admin is MIA. I'll check out tabletop.social soon though.

These days a lot of folks have been absorbed by the various Discords.
There is one well known OSR Discord, but I'm not sure where it's got
it's landing page and how to invite users to that instance.

Yeah Discord is not good for Open Communities. Once you go to Discord
you're making a Gated Community at that point. Discord has signle
handedly killed off Stack Overkill and so much good programming
information is gated off if you're not in those servers.

On the other hand Discord might see some decline due to the recent
kerfuffle about them using withpersona.com's identification services for
    age verification.

That's how I got into Usenet recently. I figured it was time to branch
out into other communites. It really feels like the old internet from
30 years ago and it feels really good. I'm even taking a chance on the
Dark Web and seeing if anything good can be found there. But it's hard
with no really good search engine for the dark web.

If you were part of that scene and are still reading, IrCOd be glad to

I'll try to track you down on there. So much in the community I've
missed in the past 8 years.

    Cheers!
