  • Swords & Wizardry Revised

    The newly revised Swords & Wizardry rulebook is on dtrpg:

    It is non-OGL: the original game is re-created using the creative commons grant from Wizards of the Coast, and will have a third-party publisher license
    once we decide whether to use the ORC license or a different third-party license.

    This version includes several additions and revisions to earlier versions. The
    "random castles" material is added, morale rules are added, and spell research
    rules are added. The treasure tables are revamped, and errata from earlier versions is now incorporated into the book.

    Morale rules! Very important. I like that.

    The treasure tables are revamped, and errata from earlier
    versions is now incorporated into the book.

    Any opinions on that? I really didnrCOt like the abstract gold value that
    gets traded out into packages and all that in earlier editions. The
    review you linked says rCLToo many rolls and too little magic were my two biggest gripes with the old "trade-out" system, so I couldn't be

    I also feel for the German publisher that just recently finished their translation of the old S&W.

    yep, the treasure tables are still based on average worth in gold, but
    the whole process seems to be streamlined in a sensible way. Haven't
    tried it yet, but it looks quite workable.

    Oh boy, that sucks big time ... I believe their planning on a pdf or
    booklet to summarize the changes -.-

    In terms of layout and art I think the german edition still looks way
    better even than the revised edition.
