    My roleplaying stats for 2025:
    * ran 33 games on Grenzland Discord (of those 2 Hidden Fortress (Star
    Wars OSR) and 2 Pirates of Drinax (MgT2), the rest was part of my
    ongoing Glimmermark (Labyrinth Lord) campaign)
    * played in 9 games on Grenzland (Dolmenwood and the Montag in Zuerich
    games which were largely not on Monday)
    * attended 1 con (Cauldron Euro OSR Con, played 5 games)
    * ran/played 19 games of Shadowrun 3rd edition
    * posted 25 roleplaying-related blog posts
    * published 1 fanzine article

    in sum: 64 ttrpg sessions this year.

    (very technically the Lodz Comic festival also might count as a ttrpg convention, but there were like two tables and a miniature painting
    workshop and thanks to my kid being at his most grumpiest I didn't get
    to enjoy anything of it.)

    So, how was your year?

    I tried to run original star wars on rpol, didn't go so well and I
    ghosted it. I'm not happy with myself on that, but it is what it is.

    I played to 13th level as a tempest cleric in 5e in my friend's game on roll20, 2 hours a week. I don't remember how many sessions.

    At least it's converted 1e/basic modules. The Lost City, When a Star
    Falls, Beyond the Crystal Cave, Pharoah, The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, and now Tomb of Horrors.

    I really liked The Lost City. When a Star Falls was confusing. Beyond
    the Crystal Cave and Pharoh was fun. Tsojcanth was a nasty killer
    dungeon and confusing, not sure on that one. Barrier Peaks was my
    favorite.

    I knew a bit too much on Barrier Peaks, I thought I knew Tsojanth, but
    didn't.

    Tomb of Horrors I've had to recuse myself from and act like an NPC
    because I know way too much about. I was not happy with that either as
    I've run/played in it about a total of 3 times and never liked it.
    Though some of it was wrong either misremembering or the more memorable
    one time I played it was changed quite a bit (it's where I was killed by
    100 bees for 1hp each on opening a chest, like really? Did the DM need
    to make it deadlier, and the bees only attacked me?) I started playing
    it a bit more suicidally and that was making it a bit more fun. My
    character also got gender changed and alignment reversed so is now
    lawful evil. 5e is making it much less deadly too.

    Hmm. I have the feeling that never is really that good a shift either. I
    think 5e is fundamentally a different game than what these modules were written for.
    I don't care for the actual playstyle 5e has going, but I think it works
    the best if you don't try to force 1e stuff into that.

    Of course in your case that would mean not playing any of that stuff at
    all, so it's not like there's a choice there.

    I play it more to virtually hang out with a couple friends and their
    kids and kids friends. I don't like 5e, but it's what most people want
    to play. When I had run it in it's early days I had pretty good results
    with some old modules. Zenopus (but that's always good) and C3 Lost
    Isle of Castanamir which was actually better than when I ran it in
    1e/2e. B2 I ran in 5e was meh, but that's always been hit or miss.

    Unfortunately I find most of the modules written for 5e not very good
    (either playing or running) I did run the playtest Phandelver which was
    pretty good, though the vampire (and how easy it was in the original not
    yet 5e game) wasn't great. I also found the free level 1-5 into to
    storm king's thunder very good (although extremely deadly in bits.)
    Good enough I'd consider running that part in old school D&D.
