Not really game related, but again rather IP news: they are trying to
    make a Ravenloft series.
Which I guess makes sense. I guess Ravenloft has the most cross-appeal
    of all the settings.

Personally I don't even mind it. I haven't ever found the need to play Ravenloft (outside of the original module) when I could rather play a
WOD title or Call of Cthulhu instead, but Ravenloft is sorta fine as a concept.

And Strahd is at least a memorable villain, even if he's basically just
a Dracula knockoff. But he's DnD's Dracula knockoff.

rCyDungeons & DragonsrCO Live-Action Series rCyRavenloftrCO Set at Netflix After
    rCyForgotten RealmsrCO Project Scrapped

A new live-action rCLDungeons & DragonsrCY TV series is in the works at Netflix based on the iconic franchiserCOs popular gothic-horror setting rCLRavenloft.rCY

As this series goes into development in collaboration with the
Hasbro-owned rCLD&DrCY maker Wizards of the Coast, Netflix has scrapped another rCLD&DrCY project inspired by the tabletop roleplaying gamerCOs rCLThe Forgotten RealmsrCY storyline, which spans thousands of years of
in-universe plot told across hundreds of gameplay books.

From creator John August and executive producer Alfonso Cuar||n, the rCLRavenloftrCY series is described as a rCLprestige fantasy series where adventure collides with gothic horror and tragic romance, Ravenloft and
its Domains of Dread redefine adventure through character-driven stories
of dark magic and supernatural intrigue. At the heart of the series,
Ravenloft follows the making of the vampire Darklord Strahd von
Zarovich, whose story of power, love, obsession, and undead
transformation charts his origins from tragic antihero to one of
Dungeons & DragonsrCO most notorious villains.rCY

Along with August and Cuar||n, rCLRavenloftrCY is executive produced by Gabriel Marano for Hasbro, Richard Schwartz, and Gaby Rodriguez for
    Esperanto Filmoj.

Launched in 1983 by creators Tracy and Laura Hickman, rCLRavenloftrCY is one of the most played settings in the rCLD&DrCY universe and has inspired
novels, tabletop RPG modules, video games and companion rulebooks.

Recently, Wizards of the Coast released rCLRavenloft: The Horrors Within,rCY an expanded and updated reimagining of the original storyline. The rCLRavenloftrCY setting was featured on the first season of the Wizards-produced rCLD&DrCY actual-play TV show, rCLDungeon Masters,rCY which debuted in April.

It sounds more like they're making a 'DemiPlane of Ravenloft" series
rather than focusing on Strahd and his iconic castle. Which I suppose
is well suited to a series; every week the characters enter a new
mini-realm; what horrors will they encounter this time?

I wouldn't be surprised, however, a lot of the D&Dness of the setting
will be ripped away. I halfway suspect the actual series will feature
modern teenagers bumbling through the realm, with it all being more urban-fantasy than anything else. But who knows.

And given the recent output of Netflix studios, I'm pretty sure it's
not something I'll be interested in watching however it ends up.
