Oh, absolutely. OSR, the old-school revival, is a huge thing. I had four players the first week, and another may join today.
There are several different writeups of the old rule set. I went with
OSRIC because its PDF versions are available free, but we're a pretty freewheeling group so far. We already made a joint decision to lose the
to-hit tables and graft on THAC0 from 2e.
2e did have some good stuff. As well as THAC0, I approved of the
comeliness statistic (though it was poorly implemented) and of cantrips.
A lot of people played 1e happily for years, though, so I think we'll be
fine with that as a base rule set.
