I think it's time to instantiate a new official version of chess. One
within the 'matrix' and one that is physical. The former could
accomodate Chess960 with its pseudorandom generations for the two
backrows. It could also extend the 'fog of war' that Elon (sorry I made
fun of him it was the one detail I fumbled) suggested could be
implemented by restricting players' views of the pieces. Maybe all the
pieces and pawns get scout 1 except tower or rook gets scout 3 and so on...

It's not wholly my idea. This is the de facto standard in Magic: The Gathering because they have cards that only the computer has high enough security clearance to manage.
