I do think he is right about the Fischer part. I think it is also good
that Fide is rattled a bit. They seem to be very complacent.

There's lots of possible chances to be made I think, to make chess more popular. Overall, I think this little drama is good for the development.

My spidey-senses tell me that FIDE-bashing is gonna be the
big 'thing' for 2025... once again! ;-)

Chess has a dull reputation among non-players but we all know
there's more to it than that... in chess the next drama is only
    around the corner.

But as we all need something to keep us entertained... carry on
Magnus, Hikaru and the rest of 'em!

F.I.D.E. have just dropped the gloves, it must be time for some
    fisticuffs.

I hope Magnus has got his jersey tied down. This could get ugly.

    Ooooooohhhh!

Looking forward to follow this cat fight in the press. ;) Jokes aside, it seems to me that team youtube has enough power and followers between themselves, to break away from FIDE if they want to.

I mean count the followers of the top 5 or top 10 youtubers, add a pinch
of Magnus and some other non-YT GM:s and FIDE can say "bye bye" if they
    all leave.

On the other side of the equation, they can modernize chess, add new
versions such as Fishers, and experiment, which I'm certain the audience
will enjoy, especially the younger players.

If I was master of the chess world, that's probably what I'd try to do.

More like Team Magnus. Magnus is the co-founder of the Freestyle Chess
Tour so it's highly likely that his 'team' is behind a lot of it. All
publicity is good publicity for a new chess event.

F.I.D.E. don't make themselves any friends. Their recent statement has
gone done like a lead balloon among the top players.

I won't link any YouTube videos if you don't like them but countless Grandmasters have moaned about it online in their streams. GM's who are supposedly the pinnacle of the game, knocking the International Chess Federation over their actions: They can't all be wrong.

On the other side of the equation, they can modernize chess, add new

Team Magnus have always been about modernizing chess, and making money
for the players. Team F.I.D.E. seem to be about keeping the game in the
dark ages, whilst making money for themselves.

What would you expect with russians at the top? I am convinced they are
all millionaires based on bribes, cash-back and other innovative ways to
    skimm off money from FIDE.

Bringing players more money is a proud tradition that goes back at least
    as far as Lasker.
