Why did the backgammon player think a PR of 3.1 overly flattered his play? Because, according to the XG analysis, he blundered on his second roll!
I think I played the rest of the game perfectly. It's a good illustration of why assessments shouldn't be made on PR alone. Everyone knows that
someone blundering on the 2nd roll doesn't know anything.
My PR has been around 7 lately which is strange because in youtube
videos when I see others playing with a PR of 7, they always seem to
be playing atrociously.

Why should a good backgammon player never play a friendly game
against a beginner?
Because they will double randomly for no reason at all, say that the
double is justified when they win the game, insist that they are much better than you and that all your wins are due to luck and generally be more irritating
than a swarm of gnats on a campsite.

What is the hardest problem in backgammon?
Figuring out whether your two rear checkers should protect
each other by anchoring to defend against being blitzed,
or be split to maximise your chance of hitting a shot.
