My neighbor across the alley has been wanting new windows in her house for
a long time and finally went to the Pella store. She made the appointment
and the lady came out and measured and gave all the different options.
$34,000 for 10 windows with screens, tilt in bottom sash.

So was quite impressed with the store, the whole experience; she got a bit
of tunnel vision for those windows. I kept harping at her to get another estimate and Andersen windows are sold and installed through Home Depot
here. She was quite impressed with the estimator, how thorough he was
and all the samples he brought. $26,000 for 10 windows with screens,
tilt in bottom sash. She still had a hankering for the Pellas but was
on the verge of going with Andersen.

Although no contract had been signed, she informed the Pella woman she was opting for Andersen. She asked if she would tell her the price which she
did and she said she would ask her manager if they could match it. Surprise!!
They matched the price and about $100 cheaper if she would put down $16,000 and finance the remaining $10,000 for two years, which she did.

She's quite happy with the deal and she said was glad I kept blabbering on about a second estimate. I told her that second estimate gave her a bit of bargaining power even though we weren't sure the Pella store would even consider lowering their price.

    All windows are double paned.

If they could go that much lower, they were initially trying to rip
    her off.

Wow, a quick Google search says Anderson is usually 15% to 30% than
Pella. Good thing you spoke up

Andersen Pricing: Typically averages 15% to 25% higher than similar
Pella models, with installed costs generally ranging from $400 to over
$4,000 depending on the series (such as the budget-friendly 100 Series
versus the high-end A-Series or E-Series). Full-service replacement via Renewal by Andersen tends to sit at the highest end of the pricing

And after a month or two, she can pay off the $10K. I'd never buy those
bougie Pella windows. About 20 years ago, my nephew installed a couple
of new windows on the little house. He's a computer guy, not a

I'd not put that trash in a log cabin in the woods. Half a day? Years
ago a friend and I had a sideline business and it was about a half hour
a window. Better quality that what you are showing.

She was not familiar with Andersen windows, but I told her that Andersen has/had been a sponsor of the PBS series "This Old House" for at least
25 years. I haven't watched the program in over two years, so I imagine
they still are and I don't think PBS would want a shoddy product as their sponsor. That seemed to settle her doubt as to their quality.

I do remember her saying something about Renewal by Anderson being pricier compared to what she was going with.

She'll pay off the $10,000 financed portion before the two years are up. Financing always boosts the credit rating although hers needs no boosting.
She was informed when installation begins it will take them one day to
replace all lifetime guaranteed 10 windows as there will be a crew doing
the job and not just two guys.

ago a friend and I had a sideline business and it was about a half hour
a window.-a Better quality that what you are showing.

What my nephew installed was custom made from measurements because the
house is over 100 years old. The ones from Menards may seem like
"trash," but the ones in my little house, which were also inexpensive,
still work fine 20 years later. If it takes a half hour per window, that
comes to 5 hours for the two windows. Say, $1000 labor cost. So what are
the other twenty-five fucking thousand dollars for? So you can feel
special? Look at me. I can afford Maserati windows. Fords and Nissans
    are "trash."

My nephew, like I wrote, wasn't a guy who "had a sideline business." He
wasn't hurrying. We were also drinking beer and BBQing. Fuck, I don't
remember how much time he spent exclusively on the windows. You're
probably cranky because you haven't had that old cock sucked in years.
Maybe you could settle for Acura windows, and spend the savings on an "escort."

Works? Yes, light still comes through the glass and it stops the wind.
    For some, that is sufficient.

Most people want the double pane for thermal efficiency. Nice to have
them tilt in so the outside can be washed from inside, especially on a multi-floor building.

Composite frames are generally better than aluminum except for large
    spans.
