I've got another package of shaved beef that I need to cook and consume.
The previous package I stated I was going to do cooked onions with it,
but got busy and forgot them. Today I did lightly brown and sweat the
onions for these sandwiches and also picked up a bottle of Montreal
Steak Seasoning. Looked in the cabinet the other day and none was in
residence so it was Montreal Chicken Seasoning with several dashes of
smoked paprika thrown in. Good, but MSS would have been better.

Buttered and toasted steak bun and provolone cheese again.

Dinner is the usual, enlivened by a sherry vinaigrette.

Nothing much the past week, not sure if related to my kidney or picked
up a virus along the way. Today is better than yesterday that was better
    than the previous day.

Salad, leftover supermarket BBQ brisket, slice of sourdough bread.

My DIL is into making sourdough bread the past few weeks. Decent,
getting better. This is a garlic and cheese but my taste but are a bit
dull so I don't know for sure.

That's rough. I hope you are feeling better soon. Be thankful you don't
have the problems of a woman I met at the dog park. She limped her way
over to sit with us and when some asked about her difficulty walking she
had a quite a tale. She and her husband had been in a seaside resort in
Mexico and the night before they left she was bitten by a spider... in
the mouth. She was starting to suffer by the time they got back home
she was in a bad way. Her husband took her to the hospital and she spend
about three weeks there. She had just been released two days earlier.
She had suffered all sorts of problems from the spider bite and had to
undergo numerous tests and scans. It turns out that she has tumors in
her pancreas, uterus, lung and breast.
She was amazingly optimistic and claimed that if they catch pancreatic
cancer before you show any symptoms they can beat it. I didn't want to
pop her balloon, but I figured that if you have tumor(s) in at least
four different organs it has already metastasized. What a damned shame.
She was a really nice, outgoing and really good looking.

    Hmm, that sounds good.

I've been doing a lot of baking lately -- well, a lot for someone
who lives alone. For Tuesday dinner I had two slices of homemade
whole wheat bread, with butter, along with some sharp cheddar
cheese (it's sharper than I usually get, but good) and some
    vegetables.

For Wednesday's lunch, I tried this group's technique of a

    pretty good.

These are going on the wood grill this evening, and I'm making a

with a pinch of powdered lion's mane added to the sauce. I will be using butter.

Indeed. Her tumors were detected in the course of testing for the spider
venom problem. My understanding of the stages of cancer is that the
higher the number the greater the risk and the numbers are based on
whether of not they have spread to the lymph nodes and on to other
organs. Having tumors in four different organs sounds like stage 4, the
one where most people go out and get their affairs in order.

efore I leave this earth, I'm going to try an olive oil (EfyR) grilled
cheese sandwich, but it will be hard to give up butter.-a No plans for
a mayo grilled cheese sandwich, though.

Just use a drizzle of olive oil.-a Don't give up butter!

My mother used mayo to make grilled cheese sandwiches.-a I was
surprised to find that out.-a I'm not sure but it may have been Miracle
Whip, not actual mayo.-a She seemed surprised when I told her I never
used mayo to make grilled cheese.

My mother always used margarine. She dislike butter. She never used it
on bread, potatoes, vegetables or anything else that most people liked
    with butter.

Butter was reserved for "holidays" in my house when I was a kid.

I'm going to try my hand /again/ at making homemade biscuits in the
next few days as I need to psych myself up for this. But I just can't
get into wheat bread with that sour taste no matter how little whole
    wheat is used.

The only biscuits we ever made were tea biscuits. I can't imagine
biscuits being made with whole wheat.

You're talking about cookies, aren't you?

    Joan's talking about two things:

    American-style biscuits
    Whole-wheat bread
