• Improving raspberries

Picked up some raspberries that were on sale. As usual, I sprinkled a
bit of sugar on the and smashed them with a fork. My intention was to
enjoy them with some Haagen Daz vanilla bean ice cream.

Just before I spooned them on, IDEA! Pour a bit of Chambord on them.
They went from good to spectacular for my snack tonight.

Alcohol does nice things with raspberries. One thing we like to do is
to make Raspberry Hooch. It was one of my MiL's recipes. She wasn't
really much of a cook but this recipe is so simple and the results so
good. A quart quart and a pound... a quart of raspberries, a quart of
alcohol (vodka or Alcool) and a pound od sugar. A half gallon glass job
works well for this. Pour the alcohol and sugar into the jug and shake
it up to try to dissolve the sugar. Add the raspberries and shake it
again. Put it in a cool dark location and invert it once day for about a
month and let let it sit for a couple months. Decant it into a bottle
and try to squeeze as much alcohol out of the pulp as you can.

We use Chambord in whipped cream. Breakfast this morning is raspberry cheesecake. Everyone else had it for dessert yesterday, but I don't do dessert.

It occurred to me that Chambord might be nice, about 1/4t of it, in a
glass of Diet Coke. I should try that this evening.

He's not abusive? I would say that the constant sniping at everyone who

I used to make Boogie Berries as per a friend's recipe. Fill a jar with
fresh sweet cherries, cover with liquor and put a top on. You could used
just about any kind of liquor. The liquor took on some of the flavour of
the cherry and darkened a little but the cherries were still edible.

My MiL used to make a rum pot every year. Something I have meant to do
do years but just never got around to. She had a large crock and would
lay put a layer of fresh fruit in it, add a layer of sugar and then
enough rum to cover. She did that with each fruit as they came into
season.... but no strawberries. It then sat in the crock for a few
months after the last fruit was added. Then it was stirred up and
jarred. It was amazing on ice cream.

We have 2 loquat trees, but I've never had kumquat.

The trouble is they attract fruit flies. We made a batch once and after

They add a protein component to fortify the brandy.

Oh, thanks. You never know with Dave's spelling.

The way he capitalized it and its conjunction with vodka suggested
a quick google would be in order. It might not have turned up the
Quebec reference for you, though. Given my proximity to Canada and
the fact that I occasionally search for Canadian people, places, or
things, my odds were somewhat greater.

In the U.S., we call that stuff Everclear. My husband used to
keep it in his lab at work for cleaning lenses.

Yes, at 94% it does sound like a cleaning product.

It is useful for smuggling alcohol into prohibited places. I won't
    elaborate.

For your safety and protection, this sig. has been thoroughly
    tested on laboratory animals.

We're just too courteous to say so."

He knows I have him killfiled. He mentioned it in that selfsame post.

Troll love the attention. That's what they are here for. They don't want
    to be ignored.

Snag isn't a troll. He used to post here occasionally. I think
about him when I mow the clover, because he keeps bees.

He just went down the MAGA rabbit hole so far he can't manage
to be civil to anybody to the left of Attila the Hun.

(Warning! Thead drift). That reminds me.
Here there is is a current case about a
prisoner stuffing ganga up his tailpipe
    before reporting to prison.

His argument is that it's legal, thus
you can imbibe in any orifice you want.

He must have got his law degree at a truck stop. I imagine that ganga is
    a prohibit substance in jails.
This may be the opportune moment to let people know that if you want to
get really drunk cheaply shove a tube up your butt and pour it in.
Apparently that will bypass part of the process that metabolizes alcohol
so it is many times more potent.
If you should choose to test his theory please let us know the results
because I have no interest in trying it myself.
