Peonies. Around here, they bloom for a week. My wife's old friend
brought these yesterday. They'll be gone in a week. I used to grow
peonies, but they're glorious for a week. They're too much trouble
to grow for the pleasure they bring.
But...thanks to her, we have some! For a week. ry|N+A

Poppies, too. And, of course, individual daylily blooms last only
one day, but the plants are pretty good about putting up a lot of
them over the course of a few weeks.

The first house we bought came with peonies. I didn't find
them troublesome. They got a little raggedy after they were
done blooming. Then again, so do daylilies, but that doesn't
stop me from having a bunch of them in the bed in front of
    the house.

My gardens tend to look like the most attractive patches of
"weeds" Mother Nature can give us. Yarrow is starting to take
over; eventually it'll reach the bed where the candytuft holds
sway and they'll battle it out.

What trouble? I wrap a piece of twine around the cluster and that keeps
them from falling over. They cluster is so thick that they are no weeds
in it to worry about and the flowers grow back every year. Every once
in a while I have to dig around the outside to cut it back a bit. IMO I
are one of the least troublesome plants in our gardens.

That's totally awesome. I don't think I've ever seen something like that. Thanks
to digital photography, that bloom will outlast you and I.
Here's a picture of some pepper plant that I was growing. Everything was going swell but then it dropped dead. "Black Thumb" is my middle name.
