• Sometimes A Single Job Cost More In Tooling Than Materials or Machine Time

Sometimes a single job has significant tool costs. This is not the only
tool bought just for this one job. This reamer will get used just one
time for the job it was purchased for.-a I have another tool coming for
this same job that cost as much as this reamer did.-a At least the other
tool will get used 4 times before it is put away.

The two halves of the mold this is going be used in only take 32 minutes
each to machine. The insert that will go in after this sizes them takes
about an hour. Look up the cost of an inch and a half spiral flute
    reamer for yourself.

Usually I get single use tools like this from Machine Shop Discount
Supply (MSDS), but surprisingly MSC had the best price this time around.

You know, now that I think about it I might have gotten the wrong one.
MSDS had one with an MT4 shank for a lot less. I could have done this
on my lathe. I have an MT4 adapter sleeve for the spindle. I went with
the straight shank chucking reamer thinking I would do it on the mill,
but I'll have to hang the part off the side of the table to do it. I
think it might actually be less setup on the lathe. Oh, well. I have
    it now.

I feel your pain . I bought a piece of delrin and a big chunk of
aluminum to fabricate a nut for the X axis on my mill , then spent more
for the piece of aluminum bronze that ended up being the solution to my problem .
But that's OK , I'll end up using that stock on another project ...
and you'll likely find another project that needs that reamer .

VB&G is open , shots of top shelf on me .

Where am I? Dang you Snag. I thought waking up with a hangover was a
thing of my past. Seriously though, if I ever run into you IRL I'll
gladly pay for a round. Well, if I am in a drinking mood, which I
rarely am these days. You might have to settle for what ever is on the
grill and whatever is int he bar fridge.

I can still use the lathe if I decided that is a better setup. I just
have to hold the "more expensive" tool differently. The straight shank
was 2.7 times the price of the MT4 shank. I'll use the tool I have regardless.

Let me think about that a second.... yeah Bigfoot cracked open the only collectible I had in the fridge. You should be fine with whatever you
    find in there.

I ain't too picky , though I prefer a decent straight bourbon sour
mash whiskey ... I have a particular fondness for Ezra Brooks 99 .

In other news from The Holler , my across the road neighbor has had
about 50-60 trees knocked down by a big-ass excavator to make room for a
shop and a yard for his wife . And for helping clean up the mess I have
been offered as much of the designated firewood trees (large diameter
trees are destined for the sawmill) as I want . They're stacked up ready
to process ... and this beats the hell out of harvesting from my own
    woods - from a labor perspective .

I was a fan of the original Pendelton 1910 Rye with the painted bottles.
I think it was a very popular but limited run, because it wasn't
available for a while. Than it was again, but with a paper label. It
didn't have that same almost buttery smoothness. It was okay, but not
as good. Then they came back out with the painted bottles, and think
they improved it, but its still not the same. I'm not much of a bourbon drinker, but I might have some Maker's Mark around still. Maybe even
some of the Pendelton bourbon, and there is probably a bottle of jack
gather dust behind the ol' lady's tequila collection.

Reminds me. I finally took the bottle of Tepa out of the freezer last
year. The one I used to keep in there for Coyote. Its been a long time
since he passed, but every time I opened the freezer that bottle
reminded me of that crazy biker.

Anyway, I almost certainly have some Pendleton 1910 and some High West
    Rye atleast.
