As usual, the Saturday group ride is 23 miles. I had a fairly low average speed but a higher than max heart rate. There was very light winds so it felt like a headwind both ways. I have stopped eating a snack at the coffee stop and instead get a mocha. I also didn't get a chance to eat breakfast but I don't feel particularly hungry. This seems to have no effect on my weight and when I went back to 34 mile rides instead of 43 mile rides I put back on 2 lbs. I no longerr pull out real hard on the pedals so they aren't wearing out so fast. Of course because of that I'm not paying real close attention to the cleats and they are liable to break tips off. This makes it real heard to pedal so I think that I will change out to new cleats now.
If I'm able to ride tomorrow and Tuesday I will have the second highest milage month this year. Lest night while eating a vegetarian pizza from Round Table, I broke the temporary cap that was just installed last Wednesday a week ago. But the permanent is going to be installed Wednesday.
I have no idea when they are going to install the permanent teeth that were pulled 4 months ago..
I need ro reajust the rear derailleur cable on the Merckx and try out my new Silca chain waxer with their superwax to see if it is any better than the method and self blend I've been using.
I will move the Merckx into the garage workstqnd to so that. Out in the garage Thursday I blinked at the wrong time or some suxh, missed something underfoot and fell down bull length hard. My right hip is bruised and hurts.
I've decided to strip the components off of the extra bikes I have ajnd sell most of them as bare frames. Seems like no one is willing to pay for assembled bikes with top of the line components on them. I will leave the Di2 bike assembled and also the Specialized Allez. Also MAYBE the steel Marin. I will also fully assemble the Schwinn aluminum bike since it is an 8 speed bike and it is difficult to get 8 speed parts unless you know how. And I can sell it dirt cheap. But the Basdo Loto, the aluminum/carbon Moser, the De Rosa, aluminum and caebon Merak, the BMC team machine are all more valuable to me as parts and selling the framesets off will give me room. A couple of the bikes have good condition 10 speed Dura Ace which are pretty valuable themselves since they have fairly straight cable runs and with a long throw rear derailleur you can shift 36 tooth climbing rings easily. I also have two sets of 10-speed Dura Ace like new lever sets which are valuable to riders anhd collectors alike.
I put some 10 speed Dura Ace levers on the Schwinn 503 8 speed but I have some SRAM-like manual like Senseh levers They actully are superior to SRAM since the whole lever moves and not just the small inner lever on the SRAM.This gives you better leverage and cleaner levers.
I prefer Campy-type operation but the LTWoo actually had a slightly better design. I understand that the latest LTWoo 12 speed operates like a Shimano manual lever rather than a Campy. I haven't tried one yet and don't intend to because I will have so many top end Campy levers.
