I have, twice now, had my cars parked in fron of my house on the street destroyed by cars turning the corner at unsafe speeds. Once, the entire frame was bent so violently that the drivers side wheel didn't touch the ground. The next time the driver totaled three cars including mine. These are the people driving cars and complaining about bicycles being in the way.
Jr. Cat 1's are often as fast as pro's and that means riding 40 mph on what is supposed to be a closed course.drivers ignoring posted road closures should be charged with felonies and not issued a ticket. Back when I was still fast, there were several places where I could outrun cars on twisting roads. But that did NOT stop drivers from doing anything to pass me in at least on case losing control and sliding off of the road and nearly over a cliff.
Because of my size, men drivers will not complain to me that I'm in their way. Though even now, trying to push me over when I have right-of-way does happen when they know they can get away.
