Today as of this moment the heat index in Central Illinois is 110.
Possibly the worst I have seen period. However out this morning at 5am
and sunrise at 6:25 it was 76 when I started. No wind at all and for me frankly a good ride. Managed 43 miles at 14.3 mph and HR average 95. The
real problem was though after going home and cooling off I showered.
Then had a massive brunch the old cyclist working hard...........bowel
issue. Not anything new dealt with this for many years. A good working
and produce some interesting reactions. More than you want to know but
    wonder others who might understand?

For me, there's nothing like a bike ride to get things moving.

Seems to depend on humidity and sun cover, the summer has been record
breaking, as was last year and year before that, with temperatures holding
in the mid 30rCOs riding in exposed areas such as the Ridgeway ie without shade, makes for a hot day, IrCOd guess that Marks loops he does arenrCOt under tree cover and on hot tarmac would be hotter feeling than the temperature, posted.

Same reason I generally chose routes be that fun or the commute that had
shade or along rivers as that kept the temperatures lower and felt it.

the air temp at the Vuelta today is 104F, that's drybulb, not the heat
    index.

I think Pog, did among others suggest that the rides could start earlier.

    I guess depends on logistics?
