Today in central Illinois is basically as hot and bad as it gets. Right
now at 11:30am it is 90 degrees out with 99 heat index will get to
around 110 easily. That my rec.techers is nasty heat. One would avoid
riding a bike in middle of day.

But actually not worst thing to do. Yesterday same exact day heat index
went to 108 the roofers came and put on new roof on my house in the back
1/2 at 12 noon. I had the tornado damage and 1/2 of roof needed
replacing so they did it yesterday starting in middle of the day.

I cannot believe they were able to actually get it done and left at
around 7pm. All the workers were Hispanics none of them were conversing
in English but they could understand English and I assume speak it well.
I have no idea how they managed to do that since they were not old but
neither did any of them look real young mostly in the 30-eve 50 years
old. They went up and down ladders on my 2 story with tools and loads
and all I could do was say..............riding bike is easy even do up
worst grades in Alps........you just go real slow in a very low gear.

Yes, roofing is very hard and also dangerous work.
Insufferable in hot weather. And yet they persevere. Having
done steel and concrete hi-rise construction in the summer
in Florida, your roofing project is much harder and more
    uncomfortable.

Same here as yesterday, high of 86F but humid. The endlessly
flogged "feels like" temp is 90~92F so not as warm as you.

I had nice rides both days, early, in low 70sF. Summer's
been wonderful for cycling, warm and dry, not so great for
farmers. Today, with our sudden return to typical late
summer humidity, I caught some small insect in my eye but
washed it out with an eye cup once back; no problems really.

I did 2.5 miles on treadmill and then to just save time road the indoor trainer for 23 miles. Frankly I think I do better inside at least with
some issue related to my gait and walking.
