My friend runs a free bike fixit event at two local farmer's markets
twice a month. I help out if I'm not busy.

It's by reservation only and it's always fully booked. Probably 60%
fixing flats, 30% brakes and gears, 10% other. We tell people to bring
the right tube if they have a flat, though we do have some used tubes
that have been repaired that we can give away though not all sizes.

One not-so-common tube is 27.5" Schraeder.

Last Sunday we had one bike come in with the rear derailleur missing. I suppose that we could have converted it to a one speed, but we declined
    to work on it.

We don't work on eBikes or any bike with hydraulic brakes.

I think that he got some grants to buy things like repair stands and
some common parts. We bring our own tools.

    A fat 559 tube in a 584 works fine, /in extremis/.
