Don't you find it curious that we have a group of people telling me that either I am too stupid to read alphanumeric readouts from my Garmin or that the German engineers at Garmin can't program known formulas properly into their instruments?
Is there anyone here that believes that Zen or Roger is smarter than the engineers at Garmin? So I expect they are saying that I am making up the numbers that are coming out of the Garmin. What possible reason would I have for doing this? Do you really think that I would ever desire to impress Roger with his 11 mile commute on his MTB or Zen with his 5 mph on a trainer (to judge by the numbers in formula he posted to prove me wrong
). Instead what I see is a strong motivation to "prove" I'm wrong in the face of incontroverible evidence in the form of actuqal instrumentation! Even the models they provide to "prove" their arguments, in fact, prove my claims and in the face of that they still make their false claims. Is there anyone here that doesn't know that aerdynamic drag increases exponentially with speed? Or that rolling resistance of tires increases entirely out of proportion to the condition of the road surface?
Now this is a bicycle site and I appear to be one of only a couple with experience in physics. So I suggest that these people talk about cycling and not things they don't know and can't understand. Roger telling us about things his roady friends do is worse than second hand. they are likely to exaggerate and so is he. Zen is riding again and should be telling us how he is coming along after his accident. Deacon Mark should be bragging about his recovery and not suggesting it has connection to riding on broken down bike trails into headwinds and climbs.
Lets talk about bicycling and stop arguing about things that they don't understand. Zen, you are a QC manager. You seem to be quite educated in goverment standards. But you clearly don't understand physics, so stop talking as if you do. Entertain us with your accident recovery or your racing career.
