    Interesting

Wisconsin also has a socialist running for givernor.

I left Wisconsin 25 years ago, but I keep an eye on things with lots
of family living there. I'm going to visit them for a week in October.

We've been under the yoke here for eight years, which seems
like forever already. Not like CA, NY but it isn't Texas
    either.

Or like Florida. Florida has gotten even redder in the last couple of
years. The big cities will still be blue, of course, but I think the
state will be red overall. My little neck of the woods, Pasco county,
    is bright red.

US is for some reason reverse of most/all other countries where red is left wing and blue is right wing, apparently only happened this century? Due apparently due the 2000 presidential election where broadcasters used
colours to represent, quite why they used reverse to rest of the world not sure!

I'd prefer it if the blue represented my conservative side. I wear
shirts and caps that speak to "blue lives matter" or similar.

Yes that's right. One might posit clueless idiocy but many
think it was purposeful misdirection by the large media
    networks.

My hunch would be more American media being more insular and not knowing
the norms in the rest of the world or even US history.
