A friend had a life changing accident when a passenger opened the door in a car, in a multi one way system, which doored him, and has and continues to affect his hand mainly grip.

He for that reason was an early adopter for cable operated hydraulic
brakes, as he could retrofit to his present road bikes. Did in time move to full Hydraulic again relatively early, for drop bars at least.

ItrCOs one of my objections to the segregated cycle lanes that use car
parking as the segregation think itrCOs just asking for a dooring!

Large trucks are driving way too dangewrously around bicycles. They often greatly exceed the speed limits on urban streets where trucks are forbidden. I came VERY close to being sucked under the wheels of a truck in Cull Canyon as a speeding Truck was passing me on a blind turn. Since the police are doing nothing about these all to common actions, I have stopped riding that road.
Locally they are tearing the roaqds up and not finishing the job for months. This narrows the roads to a single lane and three lanes are feeding into it. This completely blocks the roadway even to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
Now cars ae taking close passes at me while I'm alost in the gutter.. On Saturday, I was taking a left turn light and the ass behind me almost hit me to get around and then he stopped in the parking lot and talked to some guy there. I would go over and rip him out of his car if it didn't endanger future cyclists.
It is far past time for the police to take actions on people doing this but they are watching it happen and doing nothing.
