Well, I don't believe anything posted on websites that call
themselves "True News Media." Especially not when they link to
    videos on Facebook.

But lets look what they usually report.

"Terrifying Video Shows Woman Shooting Gas Station Clerk During
    Failed Robbery"

"Reality TV Star Jordan Wright Found Dead in Drainage Ditch"

That's the web version of yellow journalism <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_journalism> or what we call "Regenbogenpresse" in Germany.

While yellow journalism is the rule and not the exception in the US, this is about fast thinking saving a woman's home. Note that chargers are almost all the same so this would have occurred regardless of charger anufacturer. This is yellow journalists trying to aqssign the blame to the owner and not the lithium battery. These wheelchairs and such are all using battery packs from China. When I read something with "shocking" in the title, I usually consider

While yellow journalism is the rule and not the exception in the US, this is about fast thinking saving a woman's home. Note that chargers are almost all the same so this would have occurred regardless of charger anufacturer.

This isn't even close to true, all charges are _not_ the same. A charger matched to the battery has feedback circuits that detect when the rate
of charge or current load is too high and will shut down. Cheap
replacement chargers can sustain a high current and either allow the
battery to overheat or even the charger itself. The better systems have circuitry built into the battery that not only will shut off the
charging process, but will also feed back to the charger to tell the
    charger itself to turn off.

This is yellow journalists trying to aqssign the blame to the owner and not the lithium battery.

You might want to try reading the article you're commenting on before
you comment. If anything, the article credits her with quick action that prevented her house from burning down.

These wheelchairs and such are all using battery packs from China.

As is just about every other battery powered device on the planet. That
    it's made in china doesn't mean it's inherently cheap/poorly made. It's
when people try to replace a battery or charger with the cheapest option available or buy the cheapest battery operated device that fire hazards
    are an issue.

Chinese EV's also burn at greater rates than Tesla's

Do you have any reputable source for this claim or is it just more of
you talking out of your ass?

    which virtually never burn anymore.

Teslas weren't known for spontaneously catching fire to begin with, nor
were EV automobiles in general. Yes, when they do burn it's
exceptionally difficult to put the fire out, but the rate of EV fires is significantly smaller than ICEV fires. People in this forum have shown
you numerous links from multiple different sources backing that fact up,
yet you continue to claim otherwise with absolutely no evidence.

And the new aluminum and sodium solid state batteries almost never do. It takes a direct short for them to burn.

Just about any battery will overheat and possibly catch fire or explode
under a direct short unless there isn't enough capacity to sustain the discharge before it overheats (small coin cells for example).

Folks I knew who experimented with the Chinese Led bike lights in the early days. Number used to charge in a metal box in an open garage or somewhere
that was open and could respond to any fires!

The lights were impressive for what they were, but the batteries could be shocking apparently! So some used to repack the cells into something that wasnrCOt iffy!

Perhaps. Products of dubious origin can be harmfull. LetrCOs
instead compare three current products from reputable
    manufacturers.

A LED bike light like the Sigma Aura 100*) has a 2.000 mAh
battery (== 7.4 Wh), that's less halve of what a modern mobile
phone like a Samsung phone**) has, 5000 mAh (== 18.5 Wh).

An electric wheelchair comes with batteries that often have even
    more capacity than typical e-bikes.***)

I doubt that my Aura 100 is any more dangerous than the cell
phone I carry around in my pocket. The Aura 100 stores only about
2.3% of the energy of the aforementioned wheelchair battery.

Ah, thanks. Well, charging the battery of a used electric
wheelchair of unknown origin and with an unknown history indoors
and while you're asleep is, well, brave - or rather, reckless.
Fortunately, however, the woman reacted quickly and
    appropriately.

That kinda was the point they where very cheap and unregulated, be just
after the turn of the century.

Was less the capacity of the battery more the quality of the battery, each individual cell was fine generally but the entire package ie battery had
poor wiring and so on, or could have.

But as unrefined as they were, even the better made ones like Magicshine,
had flashlight modes ie to change modes you went though off which is
definitely subpar for a bike light!

    which virtually never burn anymore.

I really wish that you would stop trying to pretend that you're an EE - you're not and can't even understand that the "feedback loop" is nothing more than detecting the charging rate as the battery voltage approaches full. All of these batteries do the same thing so the actual voltage of the battery doesn't matter and current flow does.
I made so much money because I understood engineering and not making up tall tales.
