When in comes time to lube this Catrike chain what is the best way. I
normally just use some small engine oil like 3 in 1 only a little more
robust grade. I have never gone the bike route specific chain oil ever.
But now this puppy is 3 chains long and I sit right over it, granted has
s rubber guard but I would like to keep things clean. Dirty cassettes
that happen on my road bike I would not like to see so much. I take any thoughts on the best way and even lube if what I am doing is wrong.

My usual is to keep chain clean with OMS and a rag. I use a quick link
on regular chain and dunk it in jar but I am guessing that is not thing
to do with this beast. Then I drip a drop of oil on the links pretty
    much each one separate.

The world has segmented into two camps; the oil crowd and
the teflon sect. Both work, they're just different. For
your riding, I'd suggest a teflon based 'dry' lube as you
have no mud and hardly any rain.

Dry lubes need much more frequent application ($$) but they
don't pick up dirt, which in your case matters more than on
    a two wheeler.

Both areas have a huge selection of products and the major
brands offer both wet and dry lubricants.

Taking the 13 feet of chain off, lubing it, and putting it back on is
    a messy chore. I don't do it.

    This what I use.

    https://www.amazon.com/Finish-Line-Drip-Chain-Luber/dp/B00E20K6A8/

Once around with lube, then crank the chain all the way around several
times, then wipe it all down with paper towels or a shop rag

You're going to need a way to get the back wheel off the ground to do
    that.

Andrew you are an expert just tell me the dry lube to buy and I will get
it given your assessment. I guessing is not riding in wet conditions not needed all that much but have to see. So are I am 150 miles on the trike nothing done but on a road bike that might stretch for me 500 miles
before I thought about clean and lube

I tend to use drip on wax lubes such as Squirt as I can pick them up at
shops, and it runs clean, particularly useful for the commute bikes which
IrCOm loathed to clean etc after work!

It also for a wax lube isnrCOt that bad with wet, though doesnrCOt cope well with winter river crossing and so on, but thatrCOs way beyond what itrCOs intended for!

But to be honest you can definitely overthink such stuff!

Buy a 2nd chain and learn how to hot-wax it. Then when you need to
change, you'll always have the freshly waxed chain ready to install and
you can take your time cleaning the and waxing the other one. I've been
    doing that for years now,

Whatever's on the shelf at your LBS. Finish Line,
Rock-N-Roll, White Lightning (and others) each have a host
of products which seem different only in marketing, not
    chemistry.
