It's been a full month now since I've ridden. The Ear infection began
in the second week of March. I went to urgent care on the 14th and got prescriptions for antibiotic pills and ear drops for seven days.
Infection continued, now with really bad pain. Unable to ride because
of pain. Constant OC pain pills, and unable to sleep

Went to ER, got more meds. Went to another doctor who said, "keep on
    taking meds."

Finally, last Monday I got in to see a ear, nose and throat
specialist. Stronger pills and drops. Pain has finally let up.
Sleeping a little better. Had a CRT scan today to check for bone
infection. Results due next Monday. Still can't hear anything on
    infected ear.

In mean time, pain, loss of sleep, and medication has caused nausea
and loss of appetite. I've loss 12 lbs, no doubt a lot of it muscle.

I really need a bike ride.

    Finally

    Deepest sympathy.

I had an excursion into the witchcraft and the medical
billing industries a bit over a month ago. I wish that on no
    one.

Whenever the ear clears up, I'm supposed to get a cardiac catheter
    test.

Wow, this sounds like a real grim experience...no pun intended.

I would have hoped that the docs would have swabbed the ear and checked for which antibiotic would be the most effective (we did that at the Public
Health lab where I worked...not me, but the lab did).

A lot of people around here (Santa Cruz, CA) that I know are down with colds
    as well.

I wish you a speedy recovery w/ no balance issues!
