But we do have masses who want to transit. It just happens
that most of them are driving (in the United States).
Here in Santa Cruz County, CA, the city fathers are now approving large
housing buildings (sometimes called "Stak-n-paks" on crowded arterials which happen to have bus lines.
These projects are approved with *no* parking in some cases or say 25 spaces per 100 units under the assumption that all the tenants will use the bus!
Some of these are also as small as 220 square feet, so single occupancy, for sure.
On a separate note, I usually know of five people or so per year pulling up stakes and leaving for other states: Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Texas,
Arizona and Tennessee have all been represented.
