Efc|EfcaEfo+N+AEfUU Ukraine has unveiled a new reusable interceptor drone designed
to physically capture hostile UAVs in mid-air instead of destroying
itself during the interception.
Ukrainian company WINFLY has presented the new WINFLY Spider, developed
on the basis of the WINFLY 10 Hunter interceptor platform.
The Spider is equipped with a Karakurt-type net launcher, allowing it to neutralize aerial targets by trapping them in a deployed net. Crucially,
the interceptor can then return to its launch position for potential
reuse, offering a significantly more economical approach than
conventional one-way interceptor drones.
Efo| The baseline WINFLY 10 Hunter can operate at altitudes of up to 5,000 meters, reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, and has an operational range
exceeding 18 kilometers.
The concept could provide Ukraine with another cost-effective layer of short-range drone defense. Reusable interceptors capable of capturing
enemy UAVs without expending an entire drone on every engagement could
become particularly valuable against the enormous volume of
reconnaissance and attack drones Russia deploys across the battlefield.
