Again, thoroughly enjoyed that, shame it ended as it did but it was a fine and entertaining race.
They really do need to do something about the safety car restarts, though
- I get why the race ended under the safety car, it's how Abu Dhabi 2021 should have ended, but it's a daft set-up.
Just let lapped cars drop to the back of the snake and reorder themselves into race position and then get the safety car straight in!
Was glad that Lewis didn't get a penalty at the end, would have been
really harsh - Ant Davidson's breakdown of it on the Sky Pad was excellent and really proved that there was no danger, and seeing Verstappen's "lift off" that last about 1 second and woiuldn't have clowed him down any real amount just made me think it'd be daft to penalise Lewis. Sense prevailed
for once!
Really looking forward to Belguim. :)
I agree, I enjoyed the race too! It wasn't just a series of battery
charging stations and constant yo-yo'ing like some folks predicted.
There was certainly some yo-yo going on but I never felt like it
detracted from the experience.
I'm torn about safety car restarts at the end of the race. I don't think
that F1 needs MORE rules but I'd sort of like to see any safety car or
VSC at any point in the last 5 laps be red-flagged and rolling restarts.
I'm sure there's plenty of reasons that's a bad idea :D
