George Russell has admitted Mercedes rCLlost quite a few partsrCY following Andrea Kimi Antonelli's high-speed shunt during Friday practice at Monza.

Antonelli made his FP1 debut at the Italian Grand Prix before being
confirmed as a full-time Mercedes driver for 2025 the following day.

However, his maiden F1 outing at a race weekend was far from ideal as a mistake at the Parbolica corner just 10 minutes into the session saw him impact the barrier at high speed.

Antonelli's impact was measured at 45G, but the 18-year-old was released
from the medical centre after precautionary checks immediately after the incident.

This seems like a bizarre effort to put lipstick on a pig.

"Rather than be worried that the session ended with a badly damaged W15, Mercedes engineers and senior management have taken huge encouragement
from what they saw in the minutes prior to the off.

And the team's preliminary analysis of what caused the accident has
prompted a bizarre conclusion that it was the result of AntonellirCOs car
and tyres not being able to take the speed that he was taking it to.

As Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said: rCLWhat he did, the car couldnrCOt take...rCY

Airbags in a road car would be triggered at 40 g (for a frontal impact).

I've seen some say 20 or 25G. Whatever.
Cars are sure safer than they used to be (Both racing and street!).
