Looking at some of the past postings, it looks like at least some folks
are using or did use the nearly now ancient Zoom H2.-a I still have mine
and find it to be fair enough for my needs.-a I mainly do wildlife audio captures with it.-a However, I ran into a problem recently.
In the past, I usually used COMP1, but I found that this created way too much background audio, so recently began using LIMIT1, and set the mic
gain more carefully.-a Big difference in background, which I like, but
the other day I captured a bird call and two of the chirps ended up clipped.-a Luckily, I was able to repair the clipping, but wonder why it occurred with LIMIT1.-a Referring to the manual, it seems to suggest
LIMIT2 for live events so maybe that's what I should be using since bird call volume can be unpredictable as birds change location.
Thoughts?-a I would have thought that even LIMIT1 should have prevented
the clipping, but maybe it's set up differently than the other limiters.
-aThanks in advance.

Presumably there is a limit to how much the limiting can limit.
