• What Did You Watch? 2026-08-10 (Monday)

I watched another Futurama. It was bad. I guess I'll give up.

I do need to find something to watch. I'm looking forward to more
Only Murders in the Building and more Best Medicine, but I live
alone and apparently need a constant stream of TV.

Question for the group: when a show limps on in zombie form for
many years, do you find that it ruins your enjoyment of the early
years, or can you still watch/like the early years and ignore the
    rest?

    What did everyone else watch?

The early years of THE WEST WING are still great even if the last
couple lost some of the steam.

I watched that, but it was a while ago. I remember enjoying the
25 arc. I could try it again, since I don't remember most of it,
but I wonder if it would feel dated.

I only watched serious shows with my husband. Since my marriage
ended, I've watched comedies almost exclusively.

I think I saw a YouTube video or online article about that!

It depends one the show for me, I guess.

Early years and classic episodes of THE WEST WING hold up just fine. I quit rewatching well before the final season though.

ThererCOs a lot of discussion on the Stargate groups (end the SGG stands for: Stargate groups!) As to if the final two years where it became Farscape
hurts the earlier MacGyver episodes. I donrCOt think so. Your mileage may vary..

I guess that all depends on whether you enjoyed FARSCAPE or not. As a
fan of FARSCAPE I enjoyed the final two years of STARGATE.

I've revised my take on that since learning that her monitor
failed. Except for the large factor of being off the rest of the
music, it would have been okay. Her voice sounded great.

What did Mr. Feldman have to say?

I've never watched Stargate. So they do a lot of hacking, do
they? Maybe I should give it a try to see if it holds up.

I guess that all depends on whether you enjoyed FARSCAPE or not. As a

I thought the cast was great with the exception of Beau Bridges, who gave
an oddly off-putting performance. Normally, he's a great actor.

My criticism of SG-1's later years:

I thought Corin Nemac was terrific and wish they'd kept him.
Ascended/decended Daniel Jackson was a whiney, if not nasty character
    much of the time.

Richard Dean Anderson was phoning it in.

What really hurt the Ben Browder era was that the Ori were boring and
just not scary in any way.

Start with the movie. The tv series is great fun, never taking itself
too seriously and putting the emphasis on heroes having adventures, in
what used to be thought of as "entertainment".

Agreed. They treated Corin poorly. Even if they wanted to bring Shanks
back they should have kept Corin around.

Richard Dean Anderson was phoning it in.

Yes, he clearly there just to pick up a paycheck by the end.

Ah, but they had Morena Baccarin.

He wasn't just phoning it in, the writing for his character was atrocious. By the end of his run, Richard Dean Anderson was basically reduced to doing nothing but making bad dad jokes.
