This very short video appeared in my Substack feed and I share it with
    anyone who appreciates cats:

This actually has a striking resonance to something that happened to me
once. My cats were used to getting breakfast at 8 AM and dinner at 8 PM without fail but on one occasion, I was late getting back from a
barbecue and didn't finally get home until 10 PM. When I entered the
house, I found a plastic orange measuring cup just inside the door and realized I was being soundly scolded: it was the measuring cup I used to
put their dry food in their bowls! I didn't realize they were even
*aware* of this cup but they'd obviously noticed it and tied it to
dinner so they hopped up on the kitchen counter, knocked it down, and
then dragged it all the way to the door just to remind me very sternly
that I had forgotten my responsibilities. (And, of course, they came
running as soon as they heard me and told me off in no uncertain terms.)

    Cats are SERIOUS about food!
