• WNBA Holds Emergency Meeting to Define 'Woman'

    From BTR1701@atropos@mac.com to rec.arts.tv on Sun Aug 9 09:02:30 2026
    From Newsgroup: rec.arts.tv

Ever since the controversy where WNBA superstar Sophie Cunningham stated a basic scientific fact that has been accepted as obvious through all of human history until 10 minutes ago, the WNBA has been going out of its way to broadcast to the world how inclusive it is and how they support transformers
    in women's sports.

Except they really didn't think that one through.

A hulking brute of a man pretending to be a woman, called Julie Tetart, who plays for the French Women's League (and absolutely destroys all competitors
to the point where the rest of his teammates basically just stand back and watch him wipe the court with the opposing team all by himself) has said that he/she/them would be happy to entertain offers from the WNBA.

So now the WNBA is in the absolutely delicious position of either putting its money where its mouth is and start allowing these complete monsters to say they're women and play in their league, at which point all of the actual women will become worse than redundant, or prohibit them and be exposed for the stinking hypocrites that they are: They'll happily advocate for men in women's sports... except their own sport because that just won't be fair, dontcha
    know.

So in an incredible development, like something out of a Kafkaesque nightmare, the WNBA is holding an emergency meeting where grown and theoretically
rational adults will sit around and try to define what a woman actually is, with the goal of somehow coming up with a definition that will allow them to keep advocating for transformers in every other sport while still excluding them from the WNBA.

Pop your popcorn and sit back, folks. This is gonna be awesome.

Perhaps this "controversy" will land where it belongs, i.e., the
preservation of the profitable tier that is women's sports.

They should broadcast this meeting so we can see the logical leaps they
take to develop their final position on the matter.

This is getting better. Enes Kantor Freedom, retired NBA/Boston Celtics
player, wants a job in the WNBA. It's literally the plot of the movie JUWANNA MANN:

After careful consideration and reviewing the current eligibility guidelines,
I'm officially declaring myself a WNBA prospect.

If simply declaring who you are is all that's required, then I meet every single
requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA.

My team and I have carefully examined the WNBA's eligibility criteria and
governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion. Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility
    for
the upcoming WNBA draft in April 2027.

I know my presence on the court will stir up strong opinions.

I am definitely not here to mock, make fun of, or disrespect any community or
    personal choices.

I'm simply asking that the current rules be applied equally to everyone-- the rules
that represent the very values many WNBA players and coaches have publicly
    advocated for.

My team and I are prepared to ensure these guidelines are applied equally, consistently, and without exception, and I look forward to the WNBA honoring
    its stated principles.

    See you at training camp.

    https://x.com/EnesFreedom/status/2085772139869696032?s=20

Only a bunch of transphobic bigots would keep this beautiful woman out of the WNBA. Let her play! Girl power!

Also, podcaster Clay Travis has put up $10 million for any WNBA team to play a boy's high school basketball team of his choice. This would be a massive windfall for the team, yet none of them have taken up the challenge. Maybe
they remember what happened to the gold-medal world champion women's soccer team when they played a promotional match against a high school boy's team in Dallas. The best of the best in the world were handed their asses by an
    average group of teenage boys.

This whole idea that men can compete against women and not destroy their
sports is so insane that I'm continually dumbfounded that grown adults can behave this way.

Put them up against Mike Tyson, even at his current age, and he'd destroy

I have a thought. I know this is a radical idea, but hear me out.

What if the franchisor concentrated on offering entertainment in the
form of women playing basketball, did everything reasonable to promote
their brand, and ceased making any social commentry whatsoever?

Wouldn't this make more money for them? Is there some reason to be in

Excellent! The WNBA has painted itself into a corner; let's see if they
can figure a way out that doesn't make them look like imbeciles.

    Spoiler: No, no they cannot.

I have a thought. I know this is a radical idea, but hear me out.

What if the franchisor concentrated on offering entertainment in the
form of women playing basketball, did everything reasonable to promote
their brand, and ceased making any social commentry whatsoever?

Wouldn't this make more money for them? Is there some reason to be in business other than to make money?

I've never understood the entertainment value of *any* sports but I find
the idea of paying to watch very low-skilled players the most baffling
of all ideas. Aside from family cheering you on out of a sense of family loyalty, what would possibly induce anyone to pay for that?

At least with the best athletes there is the possibility of marvelling
at the prowess of individual players but if WNBA play is as weak as
reputed, that doesn't seem to be a factor. No offense against these
players but maybe they need to get over themselves until they've got
some actual entertainment value going for them. Obviously, they should
feel free to play for the joy of it but they should lower their
expectations of drawing the same audiences and money as the NBA until
the point where they're offering the same entertainment value.

    Don't I wish!

Pushing the woke agenda is more important than making money for many businesses. Have you seen the garbage Hollywood puts out?

For most of us, it's easier to identify with (or feel superior to) "low-skilled" players. How much one values such engagement varies.
