Strange New Worlds WORST Episode YET? This Is More Than A JOKE!
Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 4 Episode 3 "Human Best Friend" sends
the Enterprise crew to pleasure planet Cesnar Grand where an intoxicating atmosphere produces a Hangover-style blackout comedy u with Captain Pike getting a face tattoo before peace negotiations, Spock hallucinating conversations with Kirk in scenes edging toward romantic subtext, and Number One performing a Klingon opera version of "Total Eclipse of the Heart." The episode earns a 4 out of 10 for replacing competent Starfleet officers with punchlines in a ten-episode season that can't afford to spend a full hour undermining characters it needs the audience to trust. Three episodes in, Strange New Worlds Season 4 has borrowed from The Hangover, Event Horizon,
and Doctor Who u and has yet to produce a single hour that feels like Star Trek first.

Smile 2 (Pee+) - Like "Obsession", as much as anything this 2024 horror
film is anchored by a superior performance. Now, it's a different type
of performance than Inde Navarette's in "Obsession" - But in "Smile 2"
Naomi Scott does a exemplary job of attacking this role with gusto.
Scott really comes across as not just discombobulated, but increasingly *unhinged*, throughout this movie.
So, the problem with this film (or the first "Smile") is not the performances, or even the director or cinematography, which are all first-rate.
The problem I have with these films, and horror films like them, is
that the "heroes" don't just lose - they actually never even have a
chance to "win" in the first place. Throw in "unreliable narration"
(most of what we see on screen we can't even be sure is really
happening), and all of this makes for an unsatisfying experience.
That said, aside from Scott's performance, this films does sport
some decent set pieces - one scene where Scott sees(hallucinates?) her background dancers (Scott plays a pop star a la Lady Gaga or Olivia
Rodrigo or something) menacing her (all the while smiling demonically!)
is top notch - it's something I actually can't say I've ever seen in a
    movie before.
So this is a mixed bag - top-notch performance and good direction
and set-pieces, balanced by a frankly off-putting (and unrewarding) premise.
There's talk of doing a third one of these films, but it seems like
maybe development has stalled on "Smile 3", and that's maybe for the best.
Sidenote: Dylan Gelula guest-stars in this as Scott's estranged
bestie. Ten(+) years ago I thought Gelula was quite the biscuit, but she
does not look good in this film! :(

The Secret Lives of Suburban Housewives (LMN) - This premiered last night.
It was actually OK, though this was another case where, basically,
the casting spoiled the suspense/shocking ending! - Just based on who
was playing what I knew who the killer was from pretty much Minute 1. (Meanwhile, Thursday's LMN movie is another example where the poster art spoils the movie!)
Anyway, in this one, dopey "good wife" (Analisa Wall, who recently
also headlined Lifetime's "Picture Perfect Sister-in-Law") is swept up
in murder!! when the sluttiest member (Brey Noelle) of her suburban wife/couples group ends up dead at the foot of her stairs with a
suitcase that was staged by her killer (to make it look like Noelle's character fell down the stairs while planning to leave her husband).
Well, it doesn't take long before it's clear that it was murder!!,
not an accident. And then more bodies start piling up!
Gee... I wonder who did it?! It's not like this is a Lifetime flick,
where most of the male actors in the film are known for playing villains
in previous Lifetime films!! Hmmm... I wonder who it could be?!...

I also watched soaps, but am again skipping synopsizing them.

    Hey, thanks for asking!

My fruitless search for librarians the next chapter dropped me down a
    rabbit hole of asylum films,

Ironically, "The Librarians: The Next Chapter" apparently gets rerun on
TNT on Saturday mornings, so I put a couple of episodes on as background
    noise this morning.

My first reaction is that this show suffers in only having 4 leads
instead of the original series's 5 leads.

It's surprising to me that the female lead of this series doesn't appear
to be Jessica Green but English actress Olivia Morris instead.

Apparently, they've also gotten Dominic Monaghan to pop up in a
    recurring role.

Christian Kane popped up in the other episode - man, does he look *old*
now! :( I don't think he can headline a TV show any longer. :(

I am going to go out on a limb, and guess - This is another series
    filmed in Serbia?!

like King of the Lost World and Journey to the
    Center of the Earth.

Also, Lord of the elves with TealrCOc from Stargate and Bai Ling which is featured on IMDb as one of the worst Movies ever made. And an awful modern day Sinbad movie.

I don't know how you can subject yourself to Asylum films! They were
only tolerable when they were on Siffy Saturday night and there were no
    other choices!! ;p

    What did you watch?

My fruitless search for librarians the next chapter dropped me down a
rabbit hole of asylum films, like King of the Lost World and Journey to the
    Center of the Earth.

Place this into your bittorrent client and you can download S1

IrCOve seen season one, thank you very much

That when I have. Everybody seems to have given up after the first episode >> of season two

Hard to post something that has not aired. ;)
The show just started Aug 2, so I would expect another episode will
air tonight and then show up on the various sites over night.

Episode 2 has aired. TNT is showing them on Sunday and Monday nights.
Ep 3 will air tonight, Ep4 tomorrow night.

As for clients I recommend Tixati
    https://tixati.com/

I would also recommend using a VPN when downloading from Bittorrent as
some companies are quite aggressive at tracking people down who
    download their stuff.

CBS seem to have managed to kill NCIS from the gray
