reveals why the franchise may not be done and teases what could
come next.

David Henrie wants a Wizards Beyond Waverly Place movie after finale
David Henrie expressed his desire for a Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
movie after the series finale wrapped up its 34-episode run, he told
TheWrap. The actor and executive producer planted a line about the
family wizard competition in the finale's last scene. He believes
that line could lead to a movie sequel similar to the 2009 Disney
Channel original film.

"I could totally see a movie," Henrie said. "We got to see how these
episodes do, and people got to get excited for them." He further
envisioned a potential storyline, suggesting, "There's a total
universe in which we do a movie where you pick the family wizard."
Henrie even floated the idea of filming in Italy for such a project.

The four-part series finale resolved several major storylines from
the spinoff's three-season run on Disney+. The Russos rescued Selena
Gomez's Alex Russo from a portal, and Billie finally found her dad in
Wizcatraz. Henrie described the extended finale as the "natural
trajectory" the show had been building toward throughout its run.

Several original cast members returned for the finale, including
Jennifer Stone as Harper Finkle and Gregg Sulkin as Mason. Maria
Canals-Barrera also reprised her role as Theresa, though David
DeLuise did not return as Jerry. "Everyone had an invitation, but
people are busy," Henrie explained about the absent cast members.

Gomez contributed significantly behind the camera, making her
directorial debut on the show during the finale. "She's very
opinionated. Her opinions are, 99.99% of the time, exactly right,"
Henrie said about their collaboration. The production team also
sourced the iconic Waverly Sub Station set for the finale's last
scene.

Henrie next stars in Western film Angel and the Badman alongside
Zachary Levi, Neal McDonough and Tommy Lee Jones through his
production company, Novo Inspire Studios.
