Peacock Cancels Popular TV Show After Just 1 Season
    Despite Glowing Reviews
    ---------------------------------------------------
An acclaimed Peacock TV show has been canceled after just one season.
The spy thriller series premiered earlier this year in January.

What Peacock TV show has been canceled after just one season?
Emilia Clarke's Ponies, which was released a few months back, has
now been canceled by Peacock after just one season, reports Variety.
The Cold War spy thriller TV show received a staggering critical
response upon its debut on the streaming service.

Currently, Ponies holds a phenomenal 94% Tomatometer score and
83% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. Besides Clarke, the show
also featured Haley Lu Richardson, Nicholas Podany, Andrew
Richardson, Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, and more.

While the show was well received, the reason for its cancellation
remains unclear. Notably, it failed to find a spot in Nielsen's
streaming top 10 charts following its January premiere.

The official logline for Ponies reads, "Moscow, 1977. Two 'PONIES'
('persons of no interest' in intelligence speak) work anonymously as
secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands
are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair
    become CIA operatives."

Susanna Fogel wrote Ponies while David Iserson served as the
showrunner. After the spy thriller's debut on Peacock, they
expressed deep interest in a second season.

During a media interaction, Fogel revealed that Season 2 would
eventually explore many changes regarding the protagonists. "They're
different people at the end of the season than they were at the
beginning, and in Season 2, they're just going to have to re-ask
themselves these questions about what personally is in it for them
and what are the stakes for them, and I think that becomes
    exciting."

While the show is now canceled, eager fans who haven't experienced
it yet can currently stream it on Peacock.
