Beg to differ: The animated show (first series) was classic. (And
I'm not sure I would characterize 2005 as "these days"). The reboot series >> was, eh, OK but nowhere near as good. The anime series was, well, anime.
I agree, the original series was absolutely brilliant, a clever satire on the 1960's Adam West Batman and similar series.
Interestingly I disovered there really is a city of Townsville, in Australia. But whether they have any resident superheroes or evil monkeys requires further investigation.
If it's like most other towns and cities, then there are lots of "evil monkeys" on the town / city council. :-p

The Australian one was being considered for renaming back in 2020 due
the the Politically Correct "cancel it all" whiners complaining the
name has historic links to slavery. That renaming hasn't happened ...
