A British couple who have travelled extensively in Europe and America
are falling in love with America - and apparently a LOT of Europeans
feel the same. They're in love with the huge stores and they especially
    love American energy and patriotism.

I thought the Americans in the group might like to see that, especially
those who constantly hear their country being trashed by foreigners. It
looks like some foreignerw are coming around!

I've seen similar videos with two German friends and a German couple
    travelling in America.

Crossing the USA by RV is so... American.

I think it's wonderful that people are seeing your country with their
own eyes - instead of via the news - and realizing it's much better than they'd been led to believe. This couple are so in love with America that
they want to move there. It reminds me of my youth when most people
treasured America rather than trashing it. That's a very good thing, in
    my opinion.

I've also watched similar videos in which a mixed nationality couple,
the husband is French, explain how to NOT piss off French people by
using the wrong greeting. He insists that if you greet the French
correctly, they are really very nice.

Who knew that the 738 wars fought between France and Germany and various
German states were all caused by simple misunderstandings?

See how simple history is? Just start the conversation with a friendly "bonjour" and everything will be fine. If Hitler's troops had known that
the German occupation from 1940-45 would have gone SO much better!

I think the woman at the end had the right take on it: once their eyes
have been opened to another way to live, it will be very hard to make
them "un-see" it. (American officers/politicians had a comparable
reaction during WWI when their soldiers first went to Europe: "How are
you going to keep them down on the farm once they've seen Gay Paree?").

Reality is the one thing that often overcomes gaslighting. If all your
life you've had it drummed into you that X is bad, if you go somewhere
that X is common and NOT necessarily detrimental, you come away with a
new attitude. Then, the next time someone tries to reinforce the idea
that X is bad, you will know they're full of shit; you may even say
something to contradict them or explain the reality to others.

It doesn't matter what X is. This video was about guns but if you have
been told all your life that all Americans are racist but then go there
and find that very few people are, you come away with a new
understanding. Or if you travel to Israel expecting to find an
"apartheid state" that is uniformly Jewish, the reality would completely astonish you.

"The small social habits that shape daily life in France"...

Number one, be sure and pray five times a day. You don't even have to try to remember when to do it. You will be conveniently notified that it's time to do pray with an ear-splitting wail broadcast through the streets.

Two, if you're female, be sure and cover yourself in a garbage bag from head-to-toe. If you don't and you're raped, well, then that's your fault. If you're unclear as to what exactly is acceptable, just pull up a picture of the Jawas from STAR WARS and use that as your wardrobe template.

Three, you may have heard about France's worldwide reputation for fine wines. Yeah, we don't do that anymore. The Sharia Patrols will whip you if they walk past a restaurant and see you drinking alcohol.

Who knew that the 738 wars fought between France and Germany and various
German states were all caused by simple misunderstandings?

My American cousin and her Portugese husband have been living in Paris
for 35+ years and doing OK so presumably are doing fine. (Don't know
what he does but she's a commercial realtor)
