Anticipated ABC Spin-off Show Scores Series Pickup, Crossovers Planned
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
A popular cop drama featuring Nathan Fillion has received a major
update on its future at ABC. Last week, the show led Hulu's streaming
charts with its season finale, and now, it's set to expand with a
    spin-off for ABC's 2026-27 slate.

What anticipated ABC spin-off TV show has been picked up?
ABC has officially ordered The Rookie: North for a full series order,
having 10 episodes, with plans to expand The Rookie franchise that
began in 2018, reports Deadline. The order is from the creator Alexi
Hawleyaand lead studio Lionsgate Television, and is expected to
    premiere during the midseason window.

The new ABC spin-off TV show will be led by Jay Ellis (Running Man,
All Her Fault) as Alex Holland. It will set up crossover
opportunities with the main series featuring Nathan Fillion's John
Nolan, which has a full season order and will premiere in January
    2027.

Holland is a man who joins the Pierce County Police Department after
a violent home invasion that pushed him to find a new purpose in life.
The show will explore policing in challenging circumstances, focusing
on urban and rural regions of the Pacific Northwest.

Other cast members on the spin-off series includeaChris Sullivan,
Karen Fukuhara, Froy Gutierrez, Janet Montgomery, Mya Lowe, and Malik
    Watson.

Ellis is also the producer on the series, while Hawley serves as the
executive producer and writer. Fillion, Mark Gordon, Bill Norcross,
and Michelle Chapman are the executive producers.

The latest update on The Rookie shows ABC's continued focus on
expanding established franchises. Earlier crossover events across
shows like 9-1-1aandaGrey's Anatomy have witnessed success for the
    network.

Production on The Rookie: North is expected to begin soon.

It'd be a more interesting show if the home invasion pushed him to hunt down such criminals Punisher-style.

    Hahahahahaha

He never worries about having enough probable cause for a search
    warrant!

Looking it up, the county includes Tacoma and Mt. Ranier, so I suppose
they could have an episode dealing with the eventual eruption. The
mountain's Indian name was "Tacoma" or "Tahoma" but it depended on the
tribe. Rainier was a friend of Vancouver's, hence the name.

They are going to use sheriff's police within Tacoma? Uh, ok.
