How old is he now? I think he's getting to the right age for the
phenomenon I'm thinking of. Yep, he was born in 1956.

Some men reach old age and suddenly become obsessed with talking about
sex. It becomes constant, or at least it seems that way to others. These
men often insist that they are in the right and that others must have
hangups and taboos if they don't want to talk about one bodily function constantly. He forgets that he, too, used to have other interests.

I believe it's the intellectual's version of the classic Dirty Old Man.
The blue-collar man who develops this just leers at young women, but the
man who thinks of himself as smart has to rationalize all that leering
he feels the urge to do, so he cooks up crap about how important sex is
and insists everyone else has the problem.

Maher seems to be demonstrating this. He invites a sex neuroscientist to
make everything sound all sciency, as an excuse to talk about porn and touching himself.

This is a multi-day catch up. Over the last few days I watched:

The Boys (Amazon Prime) "Though the Heavens Fall" - Episode 6. Things
are starting to wrap up as Sister Sage's brilliant plan turns out to be
not so brilliant. Still a lot happened and only 2 more episodes to go.

Law & Order - "Once Burned" - Team Law & Order go after a fireman for
being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - "Old Friends" - I'm not even going
to try and summarize this one. I have no idea what was going on!
Something about some old friends at a sleep over and one got assaulted.
    Beyond that I don't know.

The Hidden Fortress (HBOMax) 1958 epic Japanese movie. I've never seen
this before, but it was apparently one of the main inspirations for
George Lucas when he made Star Wars and I wanted to finally watch it
before the next time I watched Star Wars. The movie opens in a desert
with two bickering soldiers. I forgot their names, so I'll just call
them R2-D2 and C3P0. Anyway R2-D2 and C3P0 start the movie off
bickering and decide to go their own separate ways, but they are quickly captured and reunited as prisoners of war. They escape and are seeking
to make their fortune when they encounter a soldier. I forgot his name,
so I'll just call him Han Skywalker. Han Skywalker must save a princess
from an evil empire. I forget her name, so I'll just call her Princess
Leia. So, Han Skywalker, R2-D2 and C3P0 join forces to save Princess
Leia from an evil empire. Along the way Han Skywalker encounters an old
enemy who he fights in a duel. I almost forgot, the old enemy's face is disfigured so he wears a mask. Let's just call the old enemy with a disfigured face who wears a mask Darth Vader for short. At the end of
the movie after they have saved the day, there is a ceremony where
Princess Leia gives the heroes an award. And that was pretty much the
movie. I don't know why people think this movie inspired Lucas. It's
not as if there were any similarities. I'm not sure if I should admit
this or not, for fear of being hunted by film geeks everywhere, but I
actually did not like this movie. I found it mind mumbling boring.

Starchaser: The Legend of Orin (blu-ray) 1985 animated sci-fi movie. The
movie opens with a young man who has been a slave his whole life. He and
his people live in an underground crystal mind ruled over by robots.
The young man finds a sword hilt which thanks to a special power, let's
call "The force" for lack of a better word, he is able to activate and
use like a laser sword, or lightsaber lack of a better word. Teen boy
escapes to surface where he quickly encounters a smuggler. You know,
the scruffy nerf herder type. He smuggles crystal in a sleek ship that
flies as smooth as a Falcon and would give you the ride of a Millennium.
They escape the planet wind up with two comic relief robots and find a female love interest. The love interest is very regal and can best be described as "She's rich." They have a war in the stars in order to
save the day from a would-be evil robot empire. Now that I think about
it, this movie has a similar plot to another movie I saw once. Maybe
the "The Hidden Fortress" but set in space.

It's actually a pretty good movie, as rip offs of "The Hidden Fortress"
go. My one gripe is the movie was originally released in theaters in
3D. I never saw the movie in 3D. But watching it now and seeing all
the space battles and things flying at the screen, I wish I could
experience it the way it was meant to be seen.

Maher has ALWAYS been downright rude and nasty with respect to women. I
was not a regular viewer of Politically Incorrect. I'd watch for a
while, then stop watching for months when he pissed me off especially
with respect to his female guests.

As far as pr0n, I just heard the FIRE guy on C-SPAN Washington Journal
talking about speech/press not protected by the First Amendment. He said
the Supreme Court opinions denying some pr0n free press protection got
it very wrong, and that as long as everybody is over 18, it should be protected.

You don't have to be Maher's age to discuss it!

Relentlessly mediocre episode with lots of handwrining for the vaguely sympathetic defendant. Seems like once you get convicted of a felony,
everybody treats you like... a felon. It's so unfair! The only thing I
liked was Baxter giving Price the option to drop the case if he thought
he shouldn't be prosecuted for murder. That Price was unsure, Baxter
told him to win the case.

That should have had a solution, given how expensive the piece of
jewelry that was stolen during the fire was. A black market
investigation was warranted but neither Price nor the defense was
interested. I didn't buy that you can just sell those thing.

No, but there's a definite phenomenon of sharply increased but mostly theoretical interest, hitting men his age. I've seen it a number of
    times.
